I tried all of the recommended tricks. was stuck at the 20% blue bar. tried at least 5 times but the same every time. then, from the start menu, I right clicked and ran as administrator. finally launched and is now downloading. not sure if I am just lucky or what.... 90GB to go in the download. crossing my fingers.

Had the same issue, hit Alt+F4 to abort then from the list of apps right clicked on MSFS 2020 and ran as administrator and it launched appropriately and took about 2 hours. The key for me was run as administrator like others seem to have discovered.

Good Luck can’t wait to fly now!

Well I left it to download over night and it didn’t even complete half of the download... bummer. Then I checked on it and it was stuck at 40.91 GB despite task manager showing a download rate. Now I restarted it by pausing, closing, snd reopening, snd it’s truing to have me setup graphics settings before it’s even finished downloading...

No problems here so far. I started the download at 07:30 this morning, it should be done in about 20 minutes or so. Installs of various alpha releases always took about the same amount of time on my internet connection. Usually about 3 hours total.

I corrupted my download. Anyone know how to fix this? @ChaoticBeauty I think you had this issue?

The download stopped progressing in the middle, so I paused, closed, and restarted, but instead of completing the download it took me straight to my settings config and now the sim is in the home screen with broken menu titles.

Mine is at 46GB and going strong, should be done in a couple hours.  I have reinstalled at every alpha version and beta without issue so hopefully this time will be the same result

Wow.  I can't even begin the installation download.  I keep getting an error message!  Certainly this is not what was expected.

Hoping someone has been able to pass this. I've tried everything in this thread to see if there is any solutions.

It looks like my installer will not allow me to get past downloading a certain file. It tried to download:

...base-bigfiles-0.1.59.fspackage...

and does not get to 100%, goes back to 0%.

Anyone have any ideas how to push the download through?

Thanks!

I had the exact same issue - Content Manager crashed and upon restarting did this same thing (nice job testing this MS).

Fixed it on my system by uninstalling MSFS, creating a brand new empty directory, and running the installer again so that there were no corrupt download packages. Re-downloading it now.

Oh gosh that sucks. Shoot. Thanks though.

Yep, I had something similar happen to me. After restarting the client I was brought to the experience set-up prompt with broken dialogues, but then it would turn into a black screen and just stay there once the loading bar was filled.

Go to X:\WpSystem\S-1-5-21-3478569023-4011906951-532946707-1001\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.FlightSimulator_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalCache and delete the FlightSimulator.CFG and UserCfg.opt files. If that doesn't work, go further to Packages\Official\OneStore and use the time stamps to locate the most recent downloaded file. Delete that (might be necessary to delete one more too) and try again.

Thanks so much! I'll try this if uninstalling / reinstalling doesn't fix it. I hope I can preserve what downloaded stuff I have.

I didn't have any problems.  Download took about 3 and a half hours and then I was good to go.

I didn't find the process very intuitive but got through it OK
