Happy to see NVlink works/Multi-gpu

Wow, happy to hear that!

Personally I am running two 980 cards, I tried playing with the SLI bits today. I could get both cards to work, but basically had negative scaling and went back to just one card. Hopefully, not for ever 🙂

( I tried the settings from The Crew, Dx11bits of 00000f5 (The Talos,....) , AFR2 and Two/Four gpus )

NVlink doesn't work with the older cards like 980GTX (I have that card also).  I could be wrong...

Would somebody with a turing card be so kind to share his nvidia inspector profile for that game? I would love to have a look at that.

Indeed, the older cards do not support Nv-link.

However, my understanding was there is currently not much difference, esp on the consumer cards. They switched to the underlying Nv-link technology to allow for higher bandwiths in SLI, and future dedicated applications.

To be honest, I would be surprised if MS build in proper nv-link support in this game. Next to that the game is based on an engine that supported SLI years ago. That's why I still have some hope to get this running on older cards as well.

@FrankR409 : Could you check GPU and GPU memory usage while in the game? I am super curious to see how much load is on either of the cards. And, looking at your 139% usage of the cards, you may need some higher scaling to actually ask enough from the two TI's? ;)

Thanks a lot!

Hi Frank, thanks for your evidence, but I need to be sure that MSFS2020 is actually using both cards, and I'm not really sure of this. Can you please share with us the steps you take to make it work this way? Moreover can you please confirm us that the game is actually using BOTH cards showing us an overlay of the game (such MSI Afterburner or similar)? I'm asking you this because in my setup (TWO 2070 super configured in Nvlink with connector) the game uses only ONE card. Thanks a lot in advance!

Does NVLink work on 2070S? Isn't it that it needs 2 2080 at least?

2070 super supports Nvlink, however they have Nvlink connector so...moreover 2070 super has TU104 chip that is the same of 2080 and 2080 super. "Non super" 2070's use a different chip (TU106) that does not supports Nvlink (and they don't hae the connector.

Hello every one, just sign in to say this is BS.

this is a video of me playing is on 32:9 aspect ratio so.....

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MvUGZznI4CA&feature=youtu.be

iam running a 10980XE overclocked to 5.0

and 2x 2080ti overcloked to 2100mhz and 7500 in the mem

the only time the 2 gpus are used are in the loading screens and its just random, this game does not suport NVLINK or SLI

cheers

I’m pretty sure if you check out the picture, and notice that the gpu is over 100 % that would be the first clue.  I don’t believe 2070 and below are supported.  2080 and more.

My photo was taken in game, and shows over 100% utilization.  I would make sure that you have it enabled in Nvidia inspector.

BS, enabling (forcing) Nvlink (sli) in nvidia inspector does not mean that it works, and the game does not suprot Sli NVlink or SLI or any kind of multigpu in DX11

your picture shows 0.0%  😉

49 fps on 2X 2080ti working at full 😉 from your picture at 3440X1440

i play every thing at Max settings and using only one for the two and get 40 to 80 fps i have a better cpu, you cleary dont no any thing about how multi gpu works and nor how inplicit ou explicit rendering on more then one gpu works

post the nvlink profile or the pic of the settings

cheers

Clearly, you don’t know how to spell!

I have flying to do, so we won’t worry about what you think (or not) the image I posted clearly shows both cards being utilized.

Have a nice day, and welcome to our community, I’m sure your here for the long haul...🤣

Spelling aside, from your original picture it's hard if not impossible to tell the utilization of both GPUs.

His screenshot using MSI Afterburner on the other hand, assuming NVlink is enabled and configured correctly, shows minimal (background) utilization of the 2nd GPU as indicated by GPU load as well as low-core speed (being downclocked by Boost due to lack of load).

Could you please, if you don't mind, download MSI afterburner and show your GPU utilization in-game? Not trying to start an argument, but would like factual confirmation rather than anecdotal before I spend couple grand on two GPUs or wait for 30XX cards.

Thanks!

First of all, thank you for asking as a gentleman would, you obviously understand that at Avsim we have ethics and respect for others.

Hopefully this link helps you discern what to do from a hardware perspective after Nvidia announces specifications and pricing for the new product line.

Thank you for the screenshots, they do indeed help. It appears that one of the GPUs (top of the Pic) is not being utilized and is idling . This is evident by downclocked core and memory speeds as well as minimal power draw of the card comparing to the other GPU that is being used.

Without any other information it would appear NVlink is not active per-se, at least not in a way that would suggest that MSFS is utilizing both GPUs.
