August 19, 20205 yr I’m trying really hard to stay optimistic about 2020, but I keep finding mind numbingly poor features/decisions/physics that make me wonder what was going on during Alpha/Beta? Was there any constructive feedback or was everyone to busy drooling at the scenery to see the glaring issues? Just to list a couple. Flight dynamics! Say what you will about control sensitivities (which should not have to be significantly reduced to make the sim fly able) but I took a 208 up for a quick flight. Set it up for downwind, 1100lbs torque, 1750 rpm, 10 degrees flap. Holding 1000ft, I stalled at 55Kts! What the hell? I should maintain roughly 120Kts! I know, I’ve 3000+ hours in the real thing. It’s beyond unrealistic. How was this not mentioned during testing? Hell, Carenado can do better, and that’s saying something. Other features/decisions make no sense what so ever. Changing control assignments is a nightmare, as it allows multiple assignments per keystroke, yet doesn’t offer the ability to clear all previous assignments. It’ll tell you what is additionally assigned, but you have to go and find them individually to clear it. Again, did the developers ever try FSX at all. What were the testers doing? This stuff is basic usability, and it’s implementation is atrocious. Lastly, if I land at on airport, than want to continue to another with gps navigation, do I have to exit the flight and start a new flight entirely? Surely there’s a means of making a quick flight plan change within the flight? If not, I’m shocked. I really hope things improve, as the potential of this sim is enormous, but at the moment it’s frustrating beyond belief.

Our purpose wasn't to report bugs, but to stress test the servers. As for the bugs, we did our best. Asobo had an internal team of testers that verified our bugs and passed them on to developers. Many of us were worried about reactions just like yours. 🙂 Hook Larry Hookins Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of EarthAnd danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings;

What an absolute insult to the people who gave up their time to participate in the alpha/beta. There we many truly professional people on the alpha/beta (many of them from Avsim) who did an amazing job of reporting issues in the alpha/beta. Just because they were reported does not guarantee that they were incorporated into the release. I was in the alpha from the start and no stone was left unturned in regards to reporting issues. August 19, 20205 yr On behalf of all alpha testers (beta didn't happen) I'd like to say, sorry not sorry! Thank MSFT for running out of money to pay Asobo and demanding a release to get some cash flow. We've been ringing all the bells that this thing wasn't even close. Jacek G. August 19, 20205 yr Author I understand, but the issues I raised are not bugs/glitches. They are completely illogical design decisions, and completely inaccurate simulation physics. Not a bug like a switch working backwards, of some scenery item flickering. This is the core of the software, and it’s simply not up to scratch.

You can bet they were reported. That's all we could do. Next time, you try it. Try not to get too frustrated. Hook Larry Hookins Oh! I apologise, you’re right, it’s not the testers fault. I let my frustrations get the better of me. I guess I had higher expectations as I’d heard nothing but praise from the testers over the last 12 months.

Did you notice all the times I said, "It's not perfect. It's not finished. It's still just a flight sim"? We also saw some phenomenal things. You might too if you look hard enough. 🙂 Hook Larry Hookins Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of EarthAnd danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings;
August 19, 20205 yr Lets be frank; the game is still a beta. There was nothing that changed from the "beta" build to the "current" build.

I doubt many would dispute that but in reality it's version 1.0 of an ongoing project. Still got a long way to go. Hook Larry Hookins Oh! As Hook said you should have been on the alpha. You mentioned that the core of the software is not up to scratch. I really don't think at this stage we can call that. I live in hope. Also I have had some really amazing flights in this sim with an immersion factor I have not seen before. I have hope six months from now allot of this will be worked out because the customer base complaining is far worse that the Alpha/Beta team complaining. This has turned out to be too big to fail. Nothing is perfect on it's initial release, the 787 and 737MAX are great example. If companies can get major things wrong on an airliner, it's almost expected with any software. August 19, 20205 yr Personally I have been playing continuously for 6 hours and have nothing but praise for the sim. I never expected great flight dynamics from the default aircraft, and neither did I load the sim with expectations of perfection on day one. A minor usability issue with key assignments is hardly a sim killer! I just did a flight with real weather - sun shafts, showers, visibility changes, no sudden complete atmosphere change around the aircraft - the pluses go on and on. I look forward to the first 'study level' aircraft to be released just like yourself and many others.
