NO POWERLINES!

Recommended Posts

How in the world do you develop and release a flight simulator intended for VFR navigation an low altitude hazards and NOT have POWERLINES!

They need to fire their technical consultants! Seriously. X-plane gets this point and has them. Guys did you even bother to look at your competition? Or even a Sectional with ANY detail? Seriously!

I‘m sure powerlines will come soon. I‘m actually surprised they aren’t in the release version. I know it sounds lame but as they‘ve said time and again this is a long term project. They‘ll add more VFR obstacles down the road. Maybe they should have waited with the release until everything‘s more fleshed out, but that‘s another topic.

Powerlines and radio towers are what I'm really missing at the moment. Still, this sim is amazing.

It is amazing and the powerlines will come eventually. Monthly releases are planned to continue to improve the sim.

Didn’t they talked about powerlines on the Q&A?

Anyway, I’m missing more 3D things like VOR/NDB/LOC/ILS and all kind of navaids like in XP

I noticed that too at night you use radio towers to navigate vfr.  I just hope they add information about VOR and NDB in the simulator or else back to skyvector to get the information.

I hope they don't add them. They look ugly and just use up resources.

Powerlines wont eat much resources and they are useful for vfr flying as FSX and Xplane had powerlines you could use to navigate.

This is where 3rd party developers like FranceVFR come in. They already have stated to release POIs packages.

Packages with missing or better bridges, power lines and other missing POIs.

Also they will release better AG sets like for Paris.

Other addon developers will jump in too. Enough places in the world to improve.

Yes, but only on the alpha/beta Q&A and not in the public one if I remember correctly.

C'mon, I HATE those... Actually I asked them to ban them all from the release version....

It's a game guys, let us at least feel unstressed when trying to land out in an emergency. Are you crash addicts ? You can watch that NG Air Accidents series 🙂

LMFAO! My whole point is if you look on a sectional and are trying to use pilotage (and/or scud-running) then POWERLINES are a clear standout for both navigation importance and a safety factor to AVOID in a SIMULATOR ... if you want a GAME then fine go play DCS or whatever you want but otherwise don’t go around saying “as real as it gets” non-sense! That was such a joke marketing hype. To me a simulator is about fidelity in flight model and systems AND if you are going to make grandiose claims like Microsoft then it’s a FAIR and important Comment / observation. And in my opinion represents POOR marketing not to match your competitor if you are doing a NEXT GEN product like this!

Gee-wize graphics are SECOND ... but if you are going to sell it based graphics then you sure as hell need to model what’s IMPORTANT over EYE-CANDY. Sectionals show BIG YELLOW BLOB not MY HOUSE but they sure as hell show POWERLINES ... FRONT AND CENTER ... for a reason!
