August 19, 20205 yr The most important and fundamental component of any flight sim is the controllers. I can't even fly on less than -95% sensitivity. Yes I am using CH products (combat stick, pro pedals and throttle) and I know they are old - but they have been magnificent after tuning in FSX and P3D. I am even trying Mr. Dowsons extremely generous offer of free FSUIPC 7 til October but still I am unable to fly with any precision. How has this disaster occured? My planes are like a rocking cradle. Why o' why is my GPU being stress tested in the set up menus? 100% usage full on in the setup menus - what is going on!! That's a Radeon VII with the Ryzen 3900X, 32GB Neo G Skill ram and 2 X Nvme Gen 4 SSDs. Less stress on the GPU when actually flying than in the setup menus. I am on 4K BTW. Also if I don't keep my display resolution the same on PC and sim there are frequent crashes when swapping between the two. Need to work on that. The great opportunity to finally do away with having folders all over the place (I ran p3d with about 100 3rd party add ons) and what do we get? Folders all over the place! I would have thought it obvious that serious simmers do not install their sim software on C drive yet still default install assumes you are setting up on C with no built in option to do otherwise without spraying folders around. I am installed on E: drive but have already had two license checks that I had to redirect - just annoying! Ok so I do my graphics settings and the PC crashes - I can't get into MSFS because the setup screens are using 100% GPU and crashing the PC. Where is the .cfg file that I can access to change those settings so that I can get back into MSFS?? Umm yup it does not exist - flightsimulator.cfg is no help at all. 4K cockpit resolutions (highly desirable) seperated from overall resolution - it's a no brainer! where is it? callbacktechnotificator what is this monstrosity now loading in advanced startup? The sim is gorgeous and looks great. Sadly, the planes fly like toys without the ability to master and fine tune your controllers. Please sort it very quickly and call Pete Dowson pronto and get his software 100% integrated into MSFS ASAP. Pretty please!! From what I've seen in videos it appears that the hangar is being rendered behind the menu at all times. Doesn't make a lot of sense to me, since the tiles are large enough to obstruct nearly the entire view. Perhaps you could try limiting your frame rate while in the menu to reduce the load.
August 19, 20205 yr Mine is installed on a dedicated SSD, you had the option on initial install. FS PC - AMD7900X3D / MSI RTX 4090 24gb / 32gb Ram / Varjo Aero / Bravo Quadrant / Thrustmaster HOTAS Warthog / Yoke / TPR Pedals UK Skytours - http://www.ukskytours.co.uk
August 19, 20205 yr Try to set MSFS to max 60 frames via Nvidia Control Panel(or its alternative by AMD). Zero stress on the menu. Not global, just FS. Edited August 19, 20205 yr by Aristoteles Iñigo Bildarratz

August 19, 20205 yr There is now an internal frame limiter in the graphics settings. That's the one you should use.

August 19, 20205 yr Um, yep, it might be worth considering to tweak Frame Rate Target Control in Global AMD settings, before flying. Iñigo Bildarratz

Thanks for the suggestion - That limiting (Radeon Chill) totally crashes the sim and my PC too - There is something fundamentally wrong with their setup screens IMO - internal frame limiter as suggested above is not yet on any of my menus. Update: If I set the Overall FPS limit to 30 then the GPU usage whilst in the setup menu drops to 50% - so yes fundamentally flawed! I too notice that if you drop the in sim one from 60 to 30 or 20 the GPU utilization will drop considerably.
