I'm not having a terrible time with MSFS.

@Stoopy Thank you for sharing that, and I'm glad it sorted itself out for you 🙂 Currently I just passed Aswan and headed through lake Nasser in Egypt. Truly marvelous place. Listening to ancient egyptian music while flying. Goosebumps!

I've just been to Egypt myself. Decided to visit the Pyramids after seeing a recommendation earlier today, it might have been from you actually. Stunning.

Were there a lot of sim tourists there still? Was jam packed earlier.

Only 5 or 6, it was dark after all. Even so, still a stunning landscape especially as you could see the pyramid tops from distance poking through the night haze..

I'm in the happy club too, most impressive.  Like anything there will be fixes, heck every time I power up my PS4 there's some kind of update

Good thread - I am loving it.

Went to bed last night checking out maps of the UK and picking out airfields to visit. And then read up on Humberside and it's history in prep for a flight today. So much to see and do - due to the out of the box graphics...

And personally I find the improvements that will come exciting ... rather than complaining it's not all perfect now

I'm enjoying this sim. Flying only GA planes for the moment, the views are absolutely stunning. The install setup my computer to high. I've not bother to try and change it at all. The only problem that I had was setting up my CH flight yoke. My thanks to Asobo, and, of course Microsoft.

Very much the same here.  I'm settling in and enjoying it.  Also not touching any graphic settings nor am I measuring frame rates.  I'm happy.

For my Day 2, I took the Icon A5 for a spin.  There's a nearby lake that we'd go camping and fishing at back when the kids were young, later a developer bought up all the land around it, and now it's a private lake with a golf course, country club and  homes.  So I figured I'd go visit it again and see how amphib operations work, and taunt the golfers.  It was very restful to take a break, shut the engine off, listen to the water and watch a storm roll in while I fished (actually I had a bowl of ice cream since I couldn't open the cockpit and stick a fishing pole out).

Day 3:

Having flown only the C152, 152 Aerobat and Icon A5 so far, I decided to stay on the "small end" and work my way up from the most basic aircraft to the more complex. I'll probably once I get to the Citation Longitude, since I have less than zero interest in flying an airliner - I spent too many years sitting in them flying around the country on business travel.

So Day 3 was all about expanding the local exploration, this time in the Pipistrel Virus, a plane that I also had no interest in flying only because it's so fugly, when i first saw it I threw up in my  mouth a little bit,  And I'm not exactly fond of Rotax powered aircraft either, they just sound so buzzy and busy, but we fly the hand we're dealt,.

And I have to say I was very impressed with the airplane, the cockpit glass is just fantastic for low flights and sightseeing.  I enjoyed it quite a bit - I rate it 7/10, would fly again.  As far as the flight, ATC permitted me to head East toward the DC Beltway and after easily spotting my R/L work location I flew around the Capital.  Mixed bag of accuracy there, although having been here on 9/11 I kind of appreciate why certain buildings should be somewhat inaccurate or cryptic but then again I don't think we're fooling anyone into thinking that the Washington Monument is just a reeaally reeaally skinny office building.  The area would benefit greatly from some attention by a good scenery developer. The BEST part about it all was watching the sun slip behind the distant hills and the lights on the buildings and streets slowly come on.  It's a real treat to fly in the twilight hours!

Progress on the simulator UI front:  My addled old brain had an "Aha!" moment when I realized that the "SEARCH BY INPUT" field in the dialogue box that pops up when you select an option to bind, means you can just click in that field and then press the button or slide the axis on the selected controller, and it populates the correct button or slider.  THIS IS NOT OBVIOUS for mortal human idiots like me that take everything literally, it's not a "search" function, it's an "entry" function.  I think some clarification on this, plus making the filter default to show "All" commands not jst "Assigned" commands", would be MILES better and make the process a lot more intuitive,  But now that I understand it, I'm on a tear to start binding some controls for that enigmatic drone camera. Must figure it out.

I am enjoying this greatly and I encourage anyone having issues to hang tough and work them, it really is worth worth it (unless maybe your bag is just about flying PMDG tubeliners from one hub to another I'd guess)..

Glad too see some positive news about it.  I tried on my notebook but it wasn't made for it I guess so I have to buy another computer to try this out but I am very anxious to see all the beauty this sim has.  I will have to fiddle around with ils freq and the fmc /garmin controllers for making flight plans and flying them.

Sorry to hear that but if you can built a good system it's well worth it - good luck!

Day 4:

MUCH progress with the control bindings, I now have set up full control of the drone cam from scratch in all axis including roll and pan.  Have MASTERED the control setup now, it's pretty odd to have gone from fighting with the menu options at every turn to now using it intuitively.  Can set up controls FAST now that I know what to look for!

And then it was a cross-country from Willits-Ells O28 to L62, Fort Bragg and back on the coast of Northern California with the Flight Design CTSL.  The CTSL is another example of how you can't judge a plane by it's cover... or in this case, composites.  It's ugly as sin and downright embarrassing to be seen in on the ramp, but pretty lithe and capable once you get in the air and don't have to look at it from the outside. And you NEED to use the negative flap setting to dump altitude in the pattern, or it's a bear to get slowed up on final.  NICE sounding Rotax in this one, Actually a pretty cool plane, definitely won't be my last flight in it!

I had my hands full playing with the drone cam as well as shooting touch and goes on the TIIIIIINY airstrip, so only one screenshot, and the air was pretty hazy (sadly there are some huge fires raging in the Golden State right now).  WE NEED A REPLAY FUNCTION BADLY.

Now I am not saying anything negative about it.  I had a notebook that I did a trial and error on installing it and it said the system was below the system requirements.  It did take along time to download so I abandonded it at 10gig. and uninstalled it.  I wasn't surprised my system couldn't handle it  though.  I hope when I do get a new computer it will install properly.

Even if I want to fly PMDG airplanes, I just start MSFS and go VFR flying, not even thinking about starting up P3D.

That say everything IMO.

+1 for happy customer. Download went smooth and have been playing since the 17th. I fly primaliry GA, don't really have any desire for airliners so that may be why I have nothing to complain about.

Don't have a blazing PC, but my 7700k, 1080ti and 32Gb Ram keep me chugging along at comfortable framerates (40-60 depending on density) @1440p on a mix of high-end and ultra settings.

Honestly impressive to see the level of detail of aircraft and the scenery without spending a small fortune or downloading meshes and hundreds of GB of photo realistic scenery. Just pick a point and fly.... Can't beat that.

For everything else, there's DCS.
