Suggested budget joystick for FS2020

Recommended Posts

So the sad day finally arrived.. my Hotas 4 started the dreaded drift/jitter where even cleaning the potentiometers doesn't help anymore. Deadzones can only do so much for it.

While I'm waiting for stock to arrive for either a Saitek or Logitech yoke set (everyone's sold out here, so it'll be quite a few months yet - lockdown is still very much a thing here and international shipments are rare, to say the least), I'm looking for a good budget joystick that also has a throttle control.. basically to tide me over for a few months. I'll mostly be using FS2020 for GA flying until the payware airliners come out, so it doesn't have to be top-of-the-range.

I've considered the Extreme 3D Pro, but I've had one before and the resistance on it was a bit crazy for my liking.

Any suggestions?

PS: Unless anyone has any other ideas on how I can fix the Hotas4 - I really like it 😞 Firmware is already updated, etc. This is what the Hotas 4 is doing at the moment. At the start of the graph you can see me wiggling it, which immediately starts the jitter/drift on the X-axis after I return it to the center position:

And sometimes it just starts doing it all by itself: (I wasn't even touching the joystick during the graph below)

Since virtually all budget flight controllers are out of stock at the moment, I thought I'd mention the Amazon just got the Logitech 3D Extreme back in stock:

https://www.amazon.com/Extreme-3D-Pro-Joystick-Windows/dp/B00009OY9U/allinterviewscom

Checked AMZN 8/27.  Only ones listed are from 3d party sellers at 2X or more list price.

These flight sticks go out of stock within hours if not minutes of being in stock. This one was in stock at Logitech's own website as of yesterday, however.

Thrustmaster was so busy giving away the Airbus model to teenage Twitch and Youtube influencers that have already moved on to the Next Big Game that they managed to create demand for a product they are unable to put on shelves. Nice. I did get the Logitech from Amazon and it is even better than I assumed it would be. All I need are peddles. They'll prolly be back in stock in February...
