MSFS 2020 and FltPlan Go app

Recommended Posts

This is funny! I was coming her to post about this very thing....now I can just state it works! I have been using this all day today for my flights. Launch the Fltplan Go GPS app on you computer then wait until your sim gets to the main menu and click 'Connect'. Everything works great! Moving map is wonderful and has helped me so much during my approaches.

Give it a Go!

I found a solution to my FltPlan GO GPS app not starting.  In the folder for this program there is an SDK folder that comes when you download it from FltPlan Go.  If you run the SimConnect.exe file inside that folder you can get the app to run and connect to FS2020.  It's working fine for me again now.  It uses a specific simconnect version.

That is GREAT news!
Pilots, it does require that your app is logged into the same network as your flight sim computer.  That for me even translates to connection types on that same network.  I have had intermittent drop outs when my computer is connect to my network via Ethernet and the app obviously connected to the same network via wifi.  So when I fly both devices are on wifi.  I unplug the Ethernet cable.

Straight from the Source...

Hi Jpe828,

You should be able to connect to FS2020 by using the old sim connect. If you look into the SDK folder for the FltPlan Go GPS program and run the SDK installer, it will prompt to install SimConnect.msi. This version of connect is compatible with FltPlan Go and a user verified successful connection to FS2020.

You can download the FltPlan Go GPS program here:

 Hope this helps.

Thank you,

Fltplango

They support both X-Plane and P3D as GPS sources. I use the app every time I fly a proper flight in X-Plane.

I doubt MSFS2020 will be supported as they are focusing on the "pro" level sims. It's a great tool in the full motion sim for training.

I can't agree when you said MSFS2020 won't be considered among X-Plane and especially P3D. Which P3D is just a FSX repolished at 10 times the price.  I also doubt that any of those can really compete with MSFS2020 as a real VFR trainer. In fact I think every flight sims become obsolete this year in 2020 where a complete new era starts with MSFS2020. Of course I understand how much it is frustrating to realize what a bunch of wasted money some did in buying a lot of obsolete DLC's. It is probably the main "hidden argument" to continue to claim obsolete sims is still a good value. That said, MSFS2020 is like a Beta version already on the market and I'm really happy be able to buy and use it right now.

I've been using it since FS20 released, everything works if you set it up properly, desktop and Android. Just be aware if you use the desktop it takes about 10% of your resources to run but there's not hit on FS20 that I can see.

Same here, been using since day 1 and it works flawlessly with the simconnect inside the FltPlanGo sdk folder. I don’t think it would be easy to fly ifr without it, since ATC sucks and i am having to vector myself around most of the time.

Y'all convinced me to try FltPlanGo... but as soon as it launched, I got the message that the Windows app will be discontinued Sept 4 2020, so I'm back to looking for a solution.

Guess I was a bit premature! The Windows app is still going away, but FltPlanGo GPS works great connected to Android. I used these instructions: https://flttrack.fltplan.com/TutorialPDFs/FSX_Instructions.pdf
