Virtual Memory error.

Recommended Posts

MSFS2020 has CTD twice now, every time i go into event log it says virtual memory. i have 16gb of ram ddr4.

flying the 787 LFPG.

Fps wasn't even hitting 25fps, was shocked really tbh.

anyone know if there's a solution to this?

Interestingly no matter how much physical ram you have mfs won't run without virtual memory enabled

Without virtual memory, in case your RAM got filled up you would have bad crashes... that's why it is always recommended not to turn it off.

Is there anything I can do to sort this, I’ve checked virtual memory in advanced settings and it’s automatic but still crashes , my fps was just horrible

Increase virtual memory size. Set it fixed and higher number, something you can afford.

I have this same exact problem and have not found a real fix either. While playing this game it doesn't matter how big the pagefile is made it will fill it and crash. I have watched the pagefile grow to over 40GB filling the the hard drive then crashing. If I manually set the pagefile to something lower it just fills it and crashes sooner. The pagefile appears to grow the entire time playing I have not found a way to stop it. At best I can just buy myself time. What's even more odd is the physical ram usage. While the game is running my ram usage stays around 11GB out of the 16GB I have installed.

AHH, another CTD with low virtual memory flying for around two hours and it crashed over Guernsey in a TBM 930, just supper annoying.

I do think i need to upgrade to 32GB from 16.

May need further help on what to do if you guys don't mind.

i have virtual memory set to handle automatically in windows 10.

Hey Bilal,

I was having a similar issue to you, I upped my pagefile minimum and maximum to 24,576 MB on the C drive, and haven't had a crash since.

Not sure if I needed to go as large as that, but when it was set to auto, windows was only allocating ~4000MB.

Follow these steps here: https://forums.flightsimulator.com/t/the-game-and-discord-crashes-shortly-after-loading-in/124865/42

Hope that helps.

Same here except 10GB pagefile still causes crashes. The settings cause it to fill quicker depending on what they are and length of play also matters. With 16GB ram the game will completely fill 50GB of pagefile and crash. Sometimes I get 10 min of flight and others and hour plus. How much time I have before crashing seems to depend on where, when, settings, and plane. I have left pagefile as system managed and I have seen it exceed 60GB completely filling the drive and once it fills it the crash is instant. Does anyone know how accurate the wire frame mode is with what is being drawn on screen? If the wire frame is anything to go by it seems the gpu is putting in a lot of work to draw objects that aren't visible wasting resources. The game doesn't seem to clear anything from cache either. It just keeps adding to until things are full then crash.
