No WONDER...I can run MSFS like a champ...and here's why!

Post Edit...this post is directed to those that like to fly mostly G.A. aircraft and not complicated tube system complex cockpits.  After a few comments, I feel that to be fair, I need to make that disclaimer at the top.  So..this is for those that like G.A..and might feel that their older present system specs won't give them the 'juice'. I hope to show you that it will...

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Folks...first off...I only can put 12 GB's of system RAM in upon my Dell XPS 730s O.E.M Motherboard.   Ok...that's stated, and that was giving me all sorts of pre August 18th RTM anxiety...for didn't ASOBO show us that You need around 16 to 32 GB's of System RAM...right?  Right.!

I'm about to show you that this program...does a magnificent job of memory management...both System, and Video RAM on your GPU.

The following screen grabs of Wawa, Ontario...in GLORIOUS Full ULTRA...only load in sitting at the airport  8 GB's of my 12GB available.  That is the FULL LOAD IN, to get me sitting ready at the airport.  Then..I see that only 4,580 of VID RAM of my total budget of 7,600 GB's is being used from taxi to take off, over some of the most intense, most beautiful screen shots that I have ever seen to date in a home flight sim. I know Wawa and Lake Wawa very well, including Highway 101 that takes you to Chapleau, Ontario, the capitol for hunters of Black Bear.   Take a look at the following...at the wonderful 28-30 FPS that I can maintain, with this full scene load out...as well as the grey area at the bottom of the display that will show you beyond proof, that this scene is ONLY taking around 5 to 8 GB's of System Memory to host the Azure Cloud content, and also that my GPU memory is ONLY consuming around 4.5 GB's at any time.  So no KIDDING I can run MSFS at 98 % rendering capacity..for that readout PROVES that you do not need even close to 16 or 32 GB's of system RAM...and you don't need anything beyond 8GB's on your GPU card.   It's there...for you to see as my flight progresses down one of the most pristine and beautiful lakes in Ontario, Canada!   Lake Wawa..as I head eastbound with Highway 101 towards Chapleau in view.

So folks...who have any higher than 12 GB's of System RAM, (as I have max) and even if you ONLY have a 6 GB 1060 GPU...you are LAUGHING all the way to the bank.  My GPU load never exceeded 5 GB's of running vid management.  So...there it is...and now enjoy one of the most beautiful areas of Ontario, Canada to tourist in...and many, many bikers, go to Wawa for long weekends...'cause the roads are so wonderful to lolly gag upon...as my wife and I do, aboard our 2018 Yamaha Star Venture Transcontinental.   I know this area well, and have gone tens of times between Wawa, and Chapleau, further east...  Enjoy...BUT...take a look (by clicking twice on my shots to bring them up...and the grey bottom read out where you will see both System RAM and GPU RAM being shown consumed at any time...  🙂

28 fps in the woods, I wouldn't laugh at all

Now, try it over a large city using one of the commercial jets with displays. I wonder how that stacks up?

Why not...what more do I need?  I have dead smooth animation...and I have the same whether it is over Toronto...it's the total pixel count...not whether it is dense trees, water...terrain...the point is..that I can run full out, with a most usable constant 28-31...and for my system...that is prime! 🙂 I don't count 60 FPS as some bragging rights...you ONLY need 30 to see smooth animation...the rest is a waste...:)

Looks good. When did they say 16GB were NEEDED?  They gave 8GB min and 16GB recommended specs.

But that is my point...for my needs...G.A.   and not running tubes...I'm showing fellow G.A'ers...that you can have the system specs I have...and have a GREAT usage of MSFS.   If you run complex cockpits...then sure...you'll need to ante up $$$ for the system resources...:)

Right...they recommended..but I have never consumed ever..more than 8GB's for any load out...Toronto...Detroit....and..once in the air...the memory footprint drops on average to around 4.5 GB's any time in the air...a great memory management engine in this...so that recommended can certainly throw off some who I hope to show here...can jump right in...with 12 GB's or more...and even get great screen output with only a 6GB Vid card...no fear...buy and enjoy!  Here is the proof...:)

Great to hear your happy! By the way,my Mother was born in Sault Ste Marie Ontario, and spent her summers up at Hawk Junction,I will have to check out that area.

Proof and proof... Be careful how you generalize this. Yes, you could probably run it in certain (if not most) situations. BUT I wouldn't be so quick, to judge things like that and so certain. I just tried flying around in urban Vietnam, and my sim was utilizing around 10 GB - all on itself. And that's NOT with all settings on ULTRA. The other day, I was flying over New York, Manhattan and was using around 16 GB of RAM.

So, yes you CAN - but they recommended 16 GB (and said 32 GB was optimal) for a reason. Apparently, yes you can - but I would personally be careful of making such generalizing statements, just because YOU can - doesn't mean that it works for everybody.

🙂

I really wish I knew how people are getting good performance.  I have a 9700k at 4.8 ghz, 32gb ram, 2080ti, installed on a SSD and it is a stuttering mess.  Even on low settings.  Along with the controller issues with my CH yoke it is unusable.  Why this was released in its current state is beyond me.

Seriously?!?!!?    What a great area...we go up north of the Sault, all the time;  my wife and I with friends, up to see the Goose..and stay at the Wawa Inn!!!!!   BTW, if you know Lake Wawa as I think you do...please comment to other's that these depictions are EXACTLY how the lake is from West to East..and I even passed over the Helicopter Port right on the shore, by the beach side of the town...simply amazing...that they even have the Wawa Inn...perfectly situated where it is in real life...as well as the grocery store...and down south I even picked out the restaurant that we have such great White Fish...what a BLAST, this sim is...!  As many have said...this sim will let you tour the world, pretty much as it truly exists below your virtual wings...

Because it's not just bragging, 30 to 60 makes a huge difference. I can't even understand how people can watch movies because of all the stuttering at 25 fps, but this is another matter.

Well even so...I put the metrics out there...and hope it will allay some user's fears that their system et all..won't cut it...:)

I have no stutter in this sim, as low (limbo territory, lol) as 22 FPS...no stutter...a great sim engine...blows away ESP! 🙂
