No WONDER...I can run MSFS like a champ...and here's why!

Yeah but calling 28fps "running like a champ" makes me laugh, hard.
I get seasick below 40, let's call it it doesn't bother me even if it's a slideshow, running like champ, no, really no.

I used to have over 50+ FPS when I first got FSX, after it was out a year or so, and I had a decent PC to run it, BUT that was with everything at default. FPS went down as soon as I started buying addons.

In the end, I was happy with 23-26 FPS in FSX, with a lot of details and the LOD at a decent range away from the plane (but looking at screenshots of MSFS, it looks like the scenery extends a lot farther than FSX with a lot less blurriness far ahead.

I wouldn't really consider barely hitting 30fps in the 27-28fps range 'running like a champ' at all but okay, looks like puke on my 165hz monitor.

Not on the O.P.'s 3440x1440 Dell U3415W.  Runs like a champ! 😉

I really wish I knew how people are getting good performance.  I have a 9700k at 4.8 ghz, 32gb ram, 2080ti, installed on a SSD and it is a stuttering mess.  Even on low settings.  Along with the controller issues with my CH yoke it is unusable.  Why this was released in its current state is beyond me.

I'd be interested to know how you are running now with a few sim updates. Have you been able to rectify the issue?  If not, I'd like to know your exact motherboard, ram brand, and hard drive brand, and resolution. I want to make sure I don't buy the same combo.  I'm currently running a [email protected], MSI z97 Krait Edition, MSI RTX 2080 Super, 32GB Corsair 1600 RAM, 970 EVO M2, 3440x1440, and MSFS runs fine (25 - 35 fps on "around high" settings, depending on where I'm flying).  I have a feeling it's something in your hardware or drivers. You should be doing much better than me with little to no stutters with your setup.  I'll upgrade someday soon, but I don't feel it's "a need" just yet.

I have never seen a stutter in this sim, and I don't have an expensive PC. What resolution are you running?

How is it possible that I'm getting the same performance at the same resolution and settings with my 1070? A 2080S should run around it in circles.

I just came across this thread, thank you for it! As you can see from my specs I will find this information comforting as I am close to buying this game. Plan is to use MSFS for low and slow GA back country flying and XP11 for airliner hops.

Sorry buddy, us folks with weak pcs - I only got 8 gigs of system ram - like to grab at any straws, but a) your flying over undemanding territory, b) in clear weather, c) in a little hedge clipper.

Now go to a medium sized city, load a few clouds, in a more complex aircraft - and see your framerates go down faster than Mike Tyson's opponents.

P.S., One person in another forum who had just bought a PC to run MSFS reported very similar results to yours and eventually discovered that he had plugged his monitor into the motherboard instead of his expensive video card meaning that he was using the CPU's GPU (Intel 630). And yes, that would be a stuttering mess even on a i9-10900k!

I just built a new system this week. I downloaded/installed the sim before I slapped my 2070 Super inside and got a nice little message every time I started the sim to continue downloading. Something along the lines of "Your computer does not meet the minimum requirements. As a result, you experience errors during the game" Of course it went away after I installed my 2070S.

That should have been his first clue that he was rolling with the IGPU 😁

Not bad since it`s designed to run at 4K on an XBOX Series X later this year. now how much is that 3090.

It’s been stuttering since the pre-release trailers. Not that hard to experience or see.

Guess I am lucky, zero stutters.

I rarely get stutters. It happens, but not enough to bug me.

There's now a way to lock the fps to 30 in the MSFS options menu. I'm wondering if stutters are caused by the wrong option settings? Mine is locked at 30 and it's mostly silky smooth. Now sometimes I'll  get an occasional scenery loading pause, but it's more of an aberration than the normal.
