Best Joystick and throttle for MS2020

Recommended Posts

did anyone have problem with Thrustmaster TWCS throttle controller? My TWCS always have positive input on both ends of the travel so I have no control on throttle in flight.

Well - As a stick I have the Virpil Moongost T50 CM2 grip with a Virpil Warbrd base. That base with it's precision engineered cams is something very far from the Thrustmaster Warthog. When I got it, I just sat there with a smile looking at the internal cam / bearing setup that have 0% toy feeling. Feels like a high quality industrial product instead. It has a very fluid increasing tension as you move away from the center - and no center stickiness at all. I just love it. The VKB stick / gimbals are rather similar and have many happy users as well.

My Throttle is a Virpil T50 v2 that is also great with more buttons than you will ever need for a civilian simulator. But I would say the Warthog Throttle is rather equal.

I recommend having desk mounts for both the throttle and the stick so that they get lower - that way you end up with a much more comfortable position not having to raise you arm / shoulders to reach a joystick / throtte on a table.

The pedals I am using are the VKB T-Rudder Mk IV that I really recommend. It was between them or the MFG Crosswind when I bought them and I am glad I went for the VKB:s. I do other things than gaming on my computer so I have an office chair with wheels (like many others). So with pedals like the Crosswinds you end up with the problem that your chair gets pushed back, or the pedals pushed forward. So you really need a static chair and the pedals pushed against a wall or mounted. Not so with the VKBs where you more push down. A very clever solution that works great for me. They use a similar cam/ball bearing design as the Warbrd base so VERY smooth operation and high quality sensors. No plastic at all. Night and day from the Logitech pedals I had before. And they take up less space as well.

But yes - the problem is that a setup like mine is USD 1000+. But considering what we put on GPUs and CPUs every 2-4 years I think that investment is well worth it.

At least for me it has. Literally. Been using it since I started simming some 20 years ago.

Have you managed to get it to work? I have the Sidewinder FFP 2 and the sim recognizes it but doesn't assign controls to it, I don't know what to do.

Best throttle/yoke: Honeycomb alpha (or the Brunner FF yoke if you seriously want to spend money)

To be clear:  does the Brunner provide the sensation of back- or forward pressure, and thus allow you to set trim by feel, rather than repeated trial and error?

And is it compatible with the new MSFS?

@daztheman70, you didn't mention a budget but the Fulcrum is very close to being available. Make in Lancashire and priced in GBP. The company also has a support forum here on AvSim. I've ordered mine and expect to have it within a month.

This is a great stick, was ways ahead of it's time. I passed mine along to my son when I went with a yoke setup and he is using it with his MSFS2020. Works perfectly. I tried a few others over the years (in that price range) and they did not come close in quality, comfort or accuracy. Just wished it would have a few more buttons. Maybe one day we will see a V3.

You need to set it up manually in the Controls section inside the Sim. It does work perfectly - 100%
