August 25, 20205 yr Hi all I used to be a real hard core simmer from FS98 all the way up to FSX. I also bought X-plane11 which I liked a lot, but at some point I fell out of love with the whole flight simming thing and eventually the day came when I un-installed both FSX-SE and X-plane. I am lucky enough to fly in the real world (A320series), so I thought that my simming days would be over and I would just enjoy the real-world experience. When this sim was announced I was rather skeptical at first, but the more I read about it, the more curios I got. My curiosity finally won and I purchased a copy shortly after release. Considering that everything we see and have right now is out-of-the-box, default stuff I have to say I am very impressed. Is it perfect? No, but it is a new platform with incredible possibilities and potential. I think the bug has bitten me again and I could see myself re-creating a few of my flights on my days off (enter: wife's eyes rolling). I have flown around for a few hours now and even made a short video, something I haven't done in a long while. If you are interested: MSFS Video I take my hats off to the dev-team and hope they will iron out the wrinkles and turn this into a platform that will stick around for many years to come. All the best! stefan Edited August 25, 20205 yr by fsclips
August 25, 20205 yr I am the same way. I gave up simming during FSX times...then came back to it during P3D v4 when the 32 bit memory limitation was solved. Then kind of lost enthusiasm a bit and this time MSFS is reviving my Simming all over again Yup..Got lots of potential. Hi Quality airport can be added. Marginal quality addon airports are not going to cut it... Hi quality add on aircrafts can be added. Manny Edited August 25, 20205 yr by Manny Manny Beta tester for SIMStarter

August 25, 20205 yr I gave up simming after growing old with FSX. The amount of work, time, and money spent to maintain it was exhausting. Then I switched to X-Plane and ended up falling into the same rabbit hole of time, money, and work. At first I was pleased with all the freeware but the scenery still lacked, and so did (free) complex aircraft.. Then I discovered Ortho 2TBs and only a fraction of the world later, and the 9,432,423 addons and dependencies needed to populate the Ortho somewhat correctly, AND THEN navigate the absolute headache that is scenery_packs.ini. I just stopped. It was exhausting to maintain, update, upgrade... All the best! stefan I love stories like this. My story is I just stayed with FS9 for the most part. I had it tricked out so it looked good but I in no way was playing the tweaking game for the years it took to get FSX reasonably usable. I have FSX and even bought P3D but mainly stayed with FS9. I had this concern that Microsoft left a void. I had FS9 built up, FSX to me was a mess, P3D with each new update had you getting your add-ons updated and then reinstalled. To me with Lockheed you didn't know when the rabbit hole would fall out (LM suddenly discontinuing the series leave a void like MS Flight) and didn't seem like a viable option for the long haul. Even FS2020 could have some issues if Microsoft decides to get weird on us down the road (charging for use, etc), heck it's happened before. Something about a Microsoft release solidified the community in the past and their sims were one off solid (a good version, bad, then a good one). This one is different. An aviation enthusiast can't deny this one. The buzz is at my job, at my kid's school, and all in the media. This is the most special release I've seen and after using it now for a week it's all it's cracked up to be and more. The potential for this sim down the road is amazing. Out the box take a flight in the TBM from Reno Nevada over Lake Tahoe is nothing short of incredible especially in the later part of the day. This is out the box. Our hobby is back in a major way and so many are coming back to it. Have fun Stefan and welcome back.
