Like many we hear lots of rumours about MS2000 but until it is released we have no idea how it interfaces with devices and whether LINDA (or more importantly FSUIPC) will work with it.

We will all need to be patient and wait.

The latest information is that MSFS 2020 does not expose any internal data like Lvars which are key to the way LINDA and FSUIPC are designed to operate. There should be a FSUIPC7 available but this is dependent on access to MSFS on its release.

As it stands there seems little hope that LINDA can be made work. All LINDA modules use Lvars extensively and any rewrite of these is very unlikely even if a method of accessing the aircraft data is possible.

We can offer little more hope at this time.

So the VRi Insight MCP maybe an expensive paper weight regarding MS2020. This is not good at all. I imagine not a single person on the Alpha it beta brought this up to the Asbobo.

I bought it up in the peripheral section. I love Linda and my MCP. Hopefully they can be made to work in the new sim.

Yes I love Linda.  I hope we can get it working in the new sim.

All - I would keep an eye on the fsuipc forum runny Pete and his son John. There is a thread over there for FSUIPC 7 beta and MFS. How things go there would likely dictate how things go here.

I’m not sure that it gives us any insight but the developer of Pilot2ATC has posted the method to make it work with MSFS 2020. Yes currently there are stutters in the sim because of Simconnect, something The MSFS 2020 development has acknowledged but once that is resolved we now have FSUIPC7 and P2ATC for use.

I assume the access to Lvars is still an issue but we are moving in the right direction 🙂

I understand that the Lvar situation is muddy at present at best, however it would be great to have a LINDA "light" for the new sim even if only for assigning switches. I found the LINDA interface so much more intuitive than FSUIPC for this.

What's the chances?

Users will be pleased to hear that I have a beta version of LINDA that works with MSFS2020. However, there is a significant issue with the performance impact of the SimConnect library which makes release at this time impractical. A hotfix to  MSFS2020 is due out next week which it is hoped will address these performance short comings.

It will be several days after the large hotfix is released for us to download and carry out testing before users can expect us to release LINDA 4.0.0 beta.

The LINDA 4.0.0 beta will only provide limited facilities due to known limitations of SimConnect. No internal variables (Lvars) are exposed via FSUIPC7 to LINDA. Users will be restricted to default library functions using available controls and offsets: these are the same functions that you can assign in controls in MSFS. These enable most of the original FSX actions to be used but are not comprehensive. VRi Combo MCP and Logitech/Saitek Panel owners will be pleased to hear that they will function. The latest FSUIPC7 7.0.0-beta will be required. This is currently available with a free licence.

I would ask users to be patient. We will make the beta release available as soon as we are happy with it.

That is extremely great news, especially for my VRI MCP, I thought it may have been redundant in the near future.

Thank you for your continued dedication to this project 😏

Will Linda for FS2020 provide the shift function doubling the number of button assignments? This is a very useful feature of Linda.

LINDA 4.x will be almost identical to previous versions with the same built-in functionality. We have done some clearing out of redundant libraries and removed references to FSX. It will only work with MSFS2020 and FSUIPC7 and will be very limited in programmable functions due to the lack of Lvars.

Only the default library, controls and offsets of the original MS Flt Sim will be available.  No other aircraft modules will work or are likely at this time.

VRi Combo MCP owners will be able to use them to display flight information and control limited aspects of the autopilot. Full control of the radios and navigation aids is provided.

Logitech/Saitek Panel users will have full control of the autopilot and radios and be able to program the switch panels.

Current versions of LINDA for P3D/FSX will continue to be supported.
