How to change unit of weight to kg?

Recommended Posts

Cannot.

Metric altimetry, weight and volume don't exist in the MSFS 2020 world. Regardless of what ICAO or the majority of the world think.

@japan211 Please report or request it to the MS Zendesk

If the new MSFS SDK even remotely resembles the FSX SDK, it is an easy fix. In FSX/P3D all you need to change is one word and add an “if” per displayed value to let a user change from lb to kg, same goes for altitude, pressure, etc.

Seriously though - this is the 21st century and they do not realise most of the world uses metric units? For such a complex coding project, they couldn't spend 30 secs to code the option to use either?

Even more surprising as the developer is french and some values like air pressure are given in hPa (weather menu).

But this happens a lot in software development. Things where you wonder: "did they try it out themselves?". I'm not judging it too seriously. I just want them to fix such stuff.

Sometimes I wounder whether anyone at Asobo ever tried FSX/P3D/XP at all. Some of the design decisions and non-inclusions are mind boggling.

It's incomprehensible.

The SDK has variables for Aircraft Environment Data:

Barometer Pressure -- Unit: Millibar

Sea Level Pressure -- Unit: Millibar

Ambient Pressure -- Unit: inHg

Sure hope the ability to change units of measure comes sooner than later. Seems like an incredible omission.

This issue was brought up at a developer Q&A session a couple of weeks ago. Asobo is definitely aware of the need for metric units on the aircraft loading menu, and it is planned to be added in a future update. It is kind of surprising that this feature wasn’t included from the beginning, since Asobo is based in France, where KG is the standard unit of measurement.

The a320 neo displays the fuel weight that I had to enter in lbs in kg. Now that's really funny.
