Real Weather .... Is that working for anyone?

The North Sea is having a nice storm today, too, if anyone wants to test the wind depiction.

If the airport was anywhere in the US, you will never get winds above 3 knots. Until this bug is fixed, if you want to see live weather winds in action, load at an airport in the UK.

Not just UK, much of Europe. I've flown out of the UK, Gibraltar, Torino, Geneva, Prague and many more, all functioning.

I've also just took off from Amsterdam around 20 minutes ago, strong headwind at take off plus very strong winds at altitude which match the current weather.

That's where i've just taken off from as per my last post, weather, wind speed and direction all present and correct.

Confirmed French biased !!!!! UK getting winds and us poor US people have to suffer max 3 kt 😞

Usually works well for me, occasionally doesn’t at all (just defaults to clea4 skies). When it doesn’t it’s always over US. Rebooting the sim usually fixes it.

Same here. The sim's weather sometimes doesn't match the RL weather at a specific airport in the US with regard to time, but that must be because the MeteoBlue data is based on a forecast model and not METARs. It's only a big issue if the weather is changing rapidly. Also, isn't that lack of wind a known bug, as is JRBarrett's observation above?

Very strange, I had 22 KT.

In such case I completely do not understand how weather works in this sim 🤪 maybe a bug with this Cessna if you used another aircraft.

I did use the 747 for that flight, not sure what is going on. I'm also starting to wonder if there is a discrepancy in servers as well because as per another thread I can see Hurricane Laura in it's correct location on the in-game world map via the North Europe server. Someone else who I am sure is on a USA server sees it how it looked several hours ago.

Meteoblue servers are melting from the demand is my guess.

I know I have to reselect live weather when I go back to the menu to change planes/locations.  It defaults to manual weather every time.  Are we sure people have just not noticed then when reloading back in?  I would check but not at home at the moment.

I just noticed this myself.  It seems to default back to clear sky preset if you go back to the flight selection main menu.  You have to change it manually back to live weather.

My experience has been that even if you specifically re-select Live Weather when changing planes or airports, the Live Weather will be completely non-functional when re-entering the modified scenario. It may occasionally work, but that seems to be the exception, not the rule. The only 100 percent reliable way to get the weather to work when changing aircraft or airports is to exit from the sim completely and start fresh.

I doubt that any of the weather data is coming directly from MeteoBlue to MSFS end users. Most likely MeteoBlue uploads their complete current weather model (continuously updated) to Microsoft, and MS in turn streams the weather to online MSFS clients via Azure.

All the MeteoBlue surface and upper wind data for the entire world is present in the data stream. You can see it if you enable the filters on the world map to visualize low level or upper level winds. The bug that is preventing the wind data from actually being injected into the sim environment in places like the US is probably in the sim executable itself.

I do a lot of my flying in Canada. The weather appears to change very occasionally more or less true to local weather but the atis might not match, the atc traffic is given different winds. Most of the time it isn't working and I'm getting the same temp and clouds wherever I go.

I'm not disagreeing with your experience but I just tried going back to the menu, changing airports and loading back in 4 times at various airports around the world the live weather loaded in properly.  Even the one time I forgot to change to live weather before loading in I was able to do so through the in-game menu bar and all loaded in perfectly.  Seems to be another one of those user specific issues that may be hard to track down.
