I just saw a You Tube Videos that reviews 2020 MS Flight Sim install problems.  It stated that he had a number of issues while installing the game, but he also stated that his number one issue was that he was running Windows 10 64 Bit version 1909.  Once he installed the 2004 update it resolved a number of his earlier problems.

Spoke with 3 MS Tech Reps through their instant message feature.  Between the three conversation I was on "line" with them for about 90 minutes.  All three where helpful, but still no success in downloading and install

I use a direct line from by modem/router to my computer.  My download speed is 100 mb

I also had a blue bar, but it stopped after I received the two error messages

I have a various versions of MS Flight Sim dating back into the mid 80's and never had an installation problem

Lastly, if I do not have an XBOX, do I still need to download the various XBOX software elements?

Yes, all of the microsoft gaming stuff has rebranded as xbox. Basically, wherever you see XBOX, just read, Microsoft Gaming instead.

Today I downloaded and installed the Windows 10 version 2004 update.  I also found that I needed to update my Microsoft Store App.  Hopefully I should ready to repurchase the sim when the new patch is released next week.

Yeah and maybe try the gamepass install first before paying outright.  I don't know but a lot of companies have unofficial or official policies against serial returners I would hate for you to get it and still have issues and they refuse to refund you.  Also hopefully the patch does help your case.
