Let me tell you how bad optimized is Flight Simulator 2020

Featured Replies

First of all, sorry the errors. English is not my native language.

My specs:

I7 3.8GHz, GTX 1070, 16gb ram, SSD

With this specs I can play o DCS and X-Plane 11, both in High Settings with +40 fps. Very fluid on the eyes.

I installed FS2020 and on the first start, it detected that the recommended settings to my system was very high.

I tried and it the stutters started!

After that I tried high, and medium graphics. I tried literally hundreds of "solutions"... from make the FS2020 the secondary window, to limit the FPS, to choose planes with less screens, I desativate v-sync, I ativate V-sync, manual cache, rolling cache, no cache... seriously.. the list of the things I tried has no end.

Today I decided to start from 0, to see what settings I could pull up... so I chose ULTRA LOW settings! With the "resolution scale" to only 20% !!!!!!!

And even with those settings is not playable at all! Not even close, because of the stutters!

I repeat! This was with ultra low settings and resolution scale of 20% !!!! With these settings we only can see the buildings geometries! We only can see cubes etc!... Like a game from the 80´s! Literally!

Even with those settings I still have stutters! I honestly thought  my pc was broken. I tried to play DCS World again, and it runs 5 starts in High definition! Jaw dropping graphics! Very fluid.

How can this be possible?

Seriously, in this point I´m really disappointed from wasting money in a product I can´t even use in ultra low!

I`m even more disappointed with the upgrade notes that basically don´t even mention the stutters!

Microsoft! About the patch notes......"Nobody" has problems  to install the game!!!! The problem is not the installation! The problem are the stutters that everyone talks!

I´m just a guy but I believe this represent many people from the community!

At least, for me and after wasting hard working money, FS2020 is getting dust!

Negative review from a not a satisfied customer!

I believe there are quite a few problems with folks and installs. Not myself and Not you obviously. From a marketing stand point, they better fix those first. People get irritate when they purchase a product and can't take it home. That will get ya a big bad reputation before anything else.

The game is in desperate need of optimising, the load times alone are intolerable even with a NVMe drive.

It actually performs much worse for me than it did in Alpha or Beta even on some lower settings.

Not sure what happened.

Maybe it is because it is on a different drive to my OS or something?

Hoping for a fix soon.

Enable hyperthreading on your i7.

If you arent happy with the sim I understand.. Ultimately you are the best judge of your happiness... especially if it doesnt seem to like your hardware ( honestly i think they should put 32gig in the minimum specs, especially if you intend to fly over or near a city)

But please  dont compare it to xplane on high???  If xplane on high was doing the things this sim was trying to do, you wouldnt have bought FS2020 in the first place.

X-plane is an awesome sim.. I kept it installed although I havent used it since FS2020 came out but i definitely intend to.. . if your happy with x-plane.. ask asobo for your money back and keep using that.  and for the days you want to see nice clouds over a desert running at good fps use DCS.

Looking at it through the developer FPS counter, the problems really kick in when coherentGTdraw goes haywire. This is an issue that appears with glass cockpit displays within the sim, and diving deeper leads you to the Coherent labs website, apparently a company that lets you "Create stunning and high-performance game user interface based on the modern web technologies – HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript."

https://coherent-labs.com/

Judging by the current fps issues, either Asobos implementation, or coherent labs solution, might suck some serious donkey butt.

Let me tell you about a Sim on day 8 of release 🙂  oh how fast 12 years goes by. I remember!

i7-8600k @ 3.70 GHz  16.0 GB Ram OS Win 10-64 bit    Geforce GTX 1070

Seems to load in about the same speed as Xplane 11 honestly, even faster than XP11 if I am loading a custom Orbx scenery and waiting on TE Washington or TE GB.

I do not think load times are an issue at all (if so, maybe check your cache settings or DL speed), and I'd personally actually prefer it to load slower and higher resolution imagery, than for it to load so quick and use low res everywhere.

Though I will say, there are places where the low res works fine when the trees hide it and what not, but it still breaks immersion too often, though I am going to be making my own scenery with higher res I hope, once I figure it all out.

I think i can compare X-Plane on High vs Flight Simulator 2020 on ULTRA LOW with stutters!

There are no excuses. Try ultra low with 20% resolution scale and tell me if the sega genesis don´t has better graphics!

This is a real problem.

I tried hyper threading and did not work.

How does it run at 1080p

Pervides1,

Hopefully, the next update will help you out.  Sadly for me, the mentioned updates don't help me at all, but there again, I AM a happy camper, and one who is quite happy until my issues get addressed. (most likely with 3PDs)

As has been previously mentioned, there were many with installation issues, so from that point of view, you have been lucky. I also feel that the Devs have in fact, addressed the right priorities and this will upset some but make others happy. No developer in the history of mankind has pleased everybody all the time. "Let me tell you how bad optimised is FS2020"

I would dearly like a thread with a title "Let me tell you how well optimised is FS2020" Because, basicaly, for me, it really is.

What I do not understand, is, why, if we are all downloading the same data (MSFS2020), are there so many variations in the downloaded and installed results? I find it hard to believe that it is just un-realized expections. I am just wondering if Windows, and not the flight sim product, which is creating so many problems. Or could it be Hardware configurations in conjunction with Windows problems. However, if Asobo, as stated in the dev update, is "fixing" some numerously reported problems, there has to be some basis to the complaints.

Just as an example of inconsistencies, with my system, I turned on hyper threading and then loaded MSFS with FPS counter set up. I was amazed that just starting up I was getting 597.8 FPS (Yeah ????) but fluctuating down to 30FPS. What amused me was the fact that whilst I was displaying that incredible figure it was still telling me (in green) that I was GPU limited.  Once in the sim, however things settled down to a pretty steady 40FPS with no stuttering. I guess that says a lot for the FPS counter.  Anyway, that was just a curiousity for me as I could not really care less if I was getting 15 FPS as long as it was smooth.

In summary, I feel for you and it would appear that you have put much work into at least trying to sort it out before expressing your frustration which is to your credit.

Regards

Tony

It shouldn't be bad on the specs you posted, something wrong.

Where are you flying from, is it a very dense area with too many buildings?

Did you look at the optimization threads, try the Vsynch and FPS locking tricks...

Installation problems was talked about alot here and other forums. Yes people do have installation problems. If they did not mention all the problems that people want fixed a day after the release like a pizza that you paid for and want right away don’t mean that they wont spend time on that certain issue.

knowing this was out before we expected should of placed a change in what some was expecting out of this . Again its been like this on every release but people forget that .
