Well, I dont know what to say, because I'm not an expert on fps tweaks 🙂 I just tried it and it worked. I set my 100hz monitor down to 60hz, and I limit my frames to 30 with rivatuner. Even then my pc can struggle with the occasional framedrop, but with this tweak everything is buttery smooth. 4 gave me too choppy displays in cockpit, 3 seems ok, but I will consider doing 2. August 28, 20205 yr This has helped mildy with the 320 and 747, but it's made the 787 actually usable. I'm running it with a setting of 2, with FPS locked to 40 externally in the Nvidia control panel settings for MSFS specifically. Before I would be hovering in the mid 20's with some upper 20's while in the cockpit even while in the air not near an airport. Adding the modification in and setting it to 2 (3 and 4 worked but gave more chop for maybe 1fps so wasn't worth it) gets me 30+ in the 787 even on the ground at say EGLL with weather. I would like to lock it at 20 fps under any circumstance It wouldn't be precise, because you're still dependent on the overall frame rate in the sim, but you could probably approximate this by, rather than tracking frame count, tracking the timestamp of the last time the main loop ran. Then, in CanUpdate(), rather than performing a modulo on the frame count, you'd return true if and only if the time since the last frame was greater than (1000 / target fps) ms. I have no idea what kind of performance impact this would have in this environment. 😊

Base settings are "High" as it set out of the box however some have been modified to Ultra and some to Medium as per the extensive guide on the effect of each setting on the official Flightsimulator forums. Performance was great in every aircraft, then I uninstalled the base Standard game from XBox (had a free gamepass 3 month thing) and bought/installed the premium deluxe version on Steam. Put all the settings back in (screenshots of each of the pages and sections) and verified with the same aircraft and locations that my FPS were still good. Then fired up the 787 and had a serious shock at the FPS. That's literally the only aircraft that gave me issues. I even tried setting the overall setting category to Medium and it didn't help. I'm not sure if it's an issue with the 787, or me running 1440p, or what. I do know that FPS is fine loading it cold and dark. It's as soon as you flip the battery switch and the avionics fire up I'd drop 7-10fps instantly in the cockpit. This little tweak though manages to get the FPS back over 30 in the 787 in the cockpit view though for me. August 29, 20205 yr Interesting. For me the heaviest aircraft is A320, I have around 32-35 fps on the ground (Ultra settings). 787 gives me around 47 on the ground with no mod added. Wow really? yeah I was very surprised when I loaded it up, not sure why it was doing that. Maybe I should have tried Ultra just because and see if it affects the FPS at all. I know I saw a post earlier where someone turned up something they expected to give worse performance and it gave better so who knows. August 29, 20205 yr How is it possible to get a 15fps jump, I tested at the same site on KSFO Small Gate 69, I was getting 31 and now getting 24-35. never seen like even 10fps jump. How do you achieve that. I was using 3
August 29, 20205 yr I'm using '2'. Its giving me about 4 FPS in the 787. Doesn't sound like much but it's a critical 4. August 29, 20205 yr Exactly how to remove the VFR map ?? Qoute: Just turn it off in the little thingy at the top of the in-sim screen...not in the sim now or I'd post a pic. Use the gear icon on the right of the icons to turn off all the icons you never use (including the VFR map) Makes no sense to me.

Usually people with less powerful CPU see the effect. Me too running an i7 10700k , seen like a two fps increase I7 10700K 16GB 3600MHZ RTX3080FE
August 29, 20205 yr So I did a dumb thing and did not back up the Java file and edited it. Now when I go into game, all screens are blank so I removed the changes but my screens are still blank!!!
