My Custom Yoke / Cockpit Project

Recommended Posts

Hey guys, thought I'd just share my yoke mods project I'm currently working on (It's my first time doing something like this.)

Before I delve further into the project, I'll share how I'm going (so far) about the project.

Firstly, through many sketches (not shown in the images), I’ve come up with a way to mount a Leobodnar Hat switch on to the yoke, add extra toggle switches on an elevated site platform and have all of that connected to the Leobodnar BBI-32 Interface. https://i.imgur.com/QBWQzDB.jpg & https://i.imgur.com/cRAMjCR.png (Plan)

Currently, the steps I've completed are the following:

  • Complete a dry run of the systems prior to any work commencing.
  • Cut a base for the yoke, switches and Leobodnar BBI-32 Interface. https://i.imgur.com/mKv2UTx.png
  • Solder wires onto the toggles switches (Yes my soldering is bad). https://i.imgur.com/xBPGJYF.jpg
  • Prepare the yoke for glueing on the 3mm acrylic so that I can mount the hat switch by screwing it in place.https://i.imgur.com/f4UioOS.jpg

On the todo list:

  • Cut and glue the acrylic onto the yoke (With drilled holes for the wires)
  • Make an elevated platform for the toggle switches. (Wooden legs and a 3mm acrylic platform base.
  • Run the cables through the yoke so they can be soldered onto the hat switch.
  • Add cable shelving.
  • Connect the cables to the BBI-32 interface and glue it in place
  • Fly with friends 🙂

If anyone is interested I can make a new post when I’ve finished or send constant updates in this post.
