Whats up with slew mode?

Recommended Posts

Slew mode (y) has a slew up slow and slew down slow which both work as expected, but slew left, right, back or forward (Num4, Num6, Num8 and Num8) instantly throws me about 1/4 mile with just a really quick tap on the key. Has anyone else figured out slew in MSFS?  Thanks.

Pretty much everyone, as it’s a flight sim. I also noticed the issue. It’s impossible to set up a precise position using the keyboard. I wish they‘d bring back the old method with accelerating speeds along the axis. That way you have super fine control while still being able to translate the position over great distances in short time. File a ticket as I did.

Try to assign the slew movements to the joystick axes before you file a ticket. You might spare yourself a moment of embarrassment. 😇

Yes, thanks, I read that. 😃 Very good hint, but yet I’ll file a ticket regarding keyboard controls. 😬

use drone view then, that speed can be adjusted.

Yes, another old useful feature that is broken. Assigning it to joystick axes can have a drawback if some noise is present. It will immediately throw your aircraft around as soon as you activate the slew mode.

Many do. It's very useful in scenery development and other situations.

Apparently you misread the intent of this thread. It wasn't about flying the plane using slew, and it isn't a poll wondering about who cares about slew.

This one is about seeking answers, not opinions from people that have nothing constructive to add.

If you are curious about who cares about slew, or feel the need to tell everyone else how you feel about it, then start your own thread.

Slew is useful to move an aircraft to a specific location on an airport ramp if you do not want to use one of the predefined parking positions.

Desbean cares about slew, jbdbow, MS/Asobo who designed MFS to incorporate slew care about it, and so do many others. Let me guess: You fly primarily in external, rear-camera view, right?

I use slew mode to edit an airport if ADE is not coming to MSFS then slew mode is not important.

Nedo, care to share the setup for that? I have a xbox controller used for other games hooked to the computer and wouldn't mind setting it up for drone, walking, etc.
