Sudden loss of live weather in Europe?

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I was flying earlier this day and everything was working as intended.

Coming home from work I fired up Msfs to have a little after work flight it seems that I lost live weather depiction. Clear skies, 29.92 and wind... 225/3 while that little weather infobox in the planning screen shows winds of 257/20.

I never had this problem before and was expecting it to only occur in the US.

Quick question, is there a workaround for that or might this be a temporary problem?

Anyone having the same issue?

Best regards

A user on the official MSFS forums who has a lot of networking knowledge and tools for looking directly at TCP/IP data streams was able to determine the actual server URLs that the sim is using to import live weather. Apparently the weather data that is shown on the world map comes from a different Azure server than the weather data that is actually injected into the sim environment when an aircraft is loaded. It may be that the latter server was offline on your most recent flight.

Then it is offline more than online!

When the update was rolled out live weather stopped working, i live stream MSFS all the time on a cable connection which makes me wonder how this is going to play out in the future, when the XBOX gamers come onboard live steaming.

Too bad. If that's the case it would have been nice to get an official info about that.

So no flying then until it's back up and working...

I flew right after installing the update, and I had live weather, and on two subsequent flights. I haven’t flown since yesterday morning. Perhaps they are doing some work on the server as part of addressing the wind bug.

Approximately an hour ago I started a test flight in Central Germany. I selected live weather but didn't pay close attention to what it was, my test wasn't about weather.

The weather turned out to be sunny with few clouds. I took off and during initial climb out all of a sudden I found myself in dark overcast condition. It popped right up. Only then did I check real weather in the www. The overcast was correct. Seems the servers did come online for me exactly in that moment.

I just checked. The live weather is working here (in the US) this morning, other than the usual 225 at 3 wind bug. I see no recent reports on the official forums of any widespread problems with live weather not working at all.

Its working here again too. But it takes quite a long time to inject and depict the weather. Maybe around 2 Minutes for me...
