@Benbo, what sim? What airport did you depart from? Please attach your flight plan. IFR or VFR.

Generally you will be told to contact Departure soon after takeoff.

If you’re new to RC have you gone through the tutorials?

Hi Ray,

Thanks for getting back to me so quickly,my sim is FSX SE its happened on IFR flights, once out of Boston then Manchester and just now

out of Paris.I am quite new to Radar Contact read the manuals and tutorials etc.All my flights i get asked to contact departure after take off

except those 3 times, control shows in the RC box with the frequency but even if i manually insert it i still get the message contact approach

even an hour into the flight.I cant seem to correct the issue.

Thanks

Gary, are the airports you have problems with 3rd Party addons or default?

When you add new scenery it’s important you rebuild the database. Make sure you’ve done that please. If you have then I’ll need to think a bit harder.

Ray,

They are addon airports,KBOS is Fly Tampa,EGCC is UK2000 and LFPG is aerosoft.I have done numerous flights and only had this issue 3 times.I always

rebuild my FSX SE database after each new scenery install and rebuild the RC database. The first time it happened KBOS to EGLL i let RC run and all the

way accross the atlantic i was getting the message contact approach.I not to sure what the issue can be.

Gary,

Too much of a coincidence only to have problems with 3rd party airports and not default ones.

Check the RC4\data folder and list the csv files that are the most recent. I’ll check tomorrow which files are updated and let you know.

Morning Ray,

I rarely if ever fly out of the default airports, they are always addon.I have completed 100s of flights with RC and only had the

issue 3 times. The newest CSV files are dated 06/09/2020 the rest are between 2005 and 2007.

Gary, therein lies the problem. I suspect you haven’t run MakeRunwys.exe as none of those files have been updated.

That’s mandatory after installing 3rd party scenery. Run it and that should fix it. You can get it here.

Gary,

f4.csv contains the frequencies for each airport. That should also have been updated. Here is my entry from f4.csv for Manchester (EGCC).

EGCC,Manchester,121.97,121.70,121.70,118.62,0,0,118.57,121.35

If you don't have 8 entries separated by a comma that could be the issue. Paste yours for comparison.

Ray,

I have copied the frequencies for the airports i had the problem with to see if they match yours,

EGCC,Manchester,128.17,121.7,125.37,119.52,0,0,126.65,0

KBOS,Boston - Logan Intl,135,121.65,134.05,119.1,122.95,0,127.2,133

LFPG,Paris - Charles-De-Gaulle,126.17,121.72,118.1,118.65,0,0,133.37,0

First off i can see the EGCC frequency is different to yours.

Gary.

Gary,

I can see what the problem is. Here is the make-up of the fields in f4.csv...

:ICAO code
airport name
atis frequency
clearance frequency
ground frequency
tower frequency
unicom frequency
multicom frequency
approach frequency
departure frequency

Your entries are missing a departure frequency. When you load a plan look at the main RC4 display and see what frequencies are shown for Arrival and Departure. Each will be preceded with an A or D.An example shown below for a flight out of Manchester.

Do you have RC4 on the same PC as flight sim?
