Contact approach whilst on departure.

Recommended Posts

Ray,

Yes RC4 is on the same PC as FSX SE,how would i correct the issue of no departure frequency. I am just planning

a flight from LYBE to LFPG for this evening and looking at and it seems LFPG does have a departure frequency.

D/ATIS(12480) D/CD(0) D/GND(11810) D/TWR(11810) D/DEP(11910) D/ARR(11910)
A/ATIS(12617) A/GND(11810) A/TWR(11865) A/DEP(13337) A/ARR(13337)

So dont know what caused the problem on departure last night,i also noticed the departure frequency and arrival

are both the same is that correct or could that be causing the issue at LFPG.

Gary.

Gary,

All the frequency info comes from the AFD file present in each airport scenery folder. I’m assuming you have UK2000 Manchester so the supplied AFD will include the relevant frequencies. Perhaps you could attach it and I’ll take a look.

If you have GSX park at a stand at EGCC and bring up the GSX airport gate customisation menu. The name of the AFD it uses is shown at the top of the interface.

Looking at your flight both airports have a departure frequency so I don’t think you’ll have a problem at either end. I have shut my pc down so can’t check my frequencies for LFPG. I have the version by a company I can’t remember. Age! 🙄

Some more info. I suspect that where an airport doesn't have a departure frequency stored the approach frequency is grabbed by MakeRunways and used as a departure one in f4.csv.

Typical example is UK2000 Gatwick. There is an Approach frequency and no Departure frequency. The same frequency is used for both.

The UK2000 EGCC AFD is named EGCC_afx_UK2xTRM.bgl. If you open it with Airport Design Editor (ADE, freeware) it lists the frequencies under List - Comms.

Hi Ray,

Just departed on this flight and again getting the message contact approach when ive just departed, just cant work this out.

D/ATIS(12480) D/CD(0) D/GND(11810) D/TWR(11810) D/DEP(11910) D/ARR(11910)
A/ATIS(12617) A/GND(11810) A/TWR(11865) A/DEP(13337) A/ARR(13337)

LYBE/30 TUVAR1V TUVAR M19 VBA P735 MAGAM DCT TIBRO Y9 NAXAV Z613 SAFFA UZ613 RONAG UL613 RLP RLP8H LFPG/27L

It just keeps telling me to contact approach on 133.37 which is LFPG,but in the RC box its showing as centre on 127.70,

even by pressing the 1 key nothing happens just the constant repeating message of contact approach on 133.37.

Any ideas, seems like i have just skipped the whole route and at LFPG already.

Gary.

This is baffling. Please copy/paste the LYBE entry from f4.csv. You should be instructed to contact departure on 119.10.

Please also confirm the version number of MakeRunways.exe. Number please, not 'latest'.

Finally, confirm modified date of f4.csv in RC4\data folder.

Gary,

MakeRunways is fine. But if you have a 3rd party Belgrade why isn't your f4.csv being updated?

Here is mine...

LYBE,Belgrade,122.92,0,118.30,118.10,0,0,119.10,119.10

And it matches the frequency you posted earlier for LYBE.

I'm flying this just to check things. More shortly.

Oh, please advise path to both FSX Steam and RC4 plus operating system.

One other thing. After loading the plan into RC4 choose Controller Info and make sure there is a tick against all frequencies for both the departing airport and the arrival. Send a screenshot - it would be helpful.

Locate f4.csv in the root directory of FSX and copy it to the RC4\data folder. That should fix the problem but I don't understand why only you appears to have this problem.

Just taken off and told to contact departure on 119.10. Look forward to hearing back when you've completed the flight. I have the same Belgrade scenery so no reason why RC4 should not use the same frequencies.

Hi Ray,

Quick question is the f4csv meant to get updated when you run the RC4 rebuild scenery database, because until yesterday when you

told me to copy the f4csv from my fsx directory into the RC4 data folder, the folder had a 2005 date next to it.

Gary,

When you start the RC4 database update it asks if it's a WideFS install. If RC4 is on the same computer as FSX choose No.

You're then asked to provide the path to the FSX.EXE. Once that is done MakeRunways is launched. It creates several files including f4.csv in the FSX main folder.

The readme included in MakeRunways.zip explains you should manually copy f4.csv to the RC4\data folder. It won't be done automatically.

The reason your f4.csv in RC4\data is so old is because you haven't copied the file over.

Ray,

Thanks for that,so as i understand if rebuild scenery updates the f4csv in FSX main directory, this may not fix my

issue with the frequencies because it would be getting read from the FSX main directory and it would have been

updated.

Gary,

I thought my post was perfectly clear. Every time you add new airport scenery you need to update the RC database. The f4.csv will be updated by MakeRunways but won't be copied to the RC4\data folder. You have to do that yourself.

So have you copied that file over and does it now include a departure frequency for LYBE?
