I am definitely interested of getting my hands dirty and seeing what I can do. A community wide effort on slowly making the world a more visual and better place to fly has always been an interest of mines. I believe with a lot of people on board, we can make this world even better. Asobo has already given us a great foundation to work on. I just gotta watch some tutorials and give it a go. I see there's already a website with people already submitting a lot of cool landmarks from all over the world! This is incredible! Thanks Arron. I hope you take the plunge as well and give it a shot. My motivation to get into painting so many years ago was exactly the same as you being interested in "getting your hands dirty". You see a need for enhanced scenery in Asia...and you see not a lot of folks doing it (if at all). This would greatly enhance your immersion in the sim. Me 18 years ago: I wanted an Austrian livery on the "new" MD80 just released by SGA. After several requests for someone to paint it, the lead painter for the group just came back with "Why don't you paint it yourself?" ...Then he set me up with a few things I needed to know to get started. The rest of the story you can read by clicking the link in my sig. 😉 (Sadly, that 1st repaint is no longer here on Avsim...I lost it to the server attack on the Avsim library years ago that whacked a whole bunch of stuff. She is still on Flightsim.com though) Regards, Steve DraGet my paints for MSFS planes at flightsim.to here, and iFly 737s hereDownload my FSX, P3D paints at Avsim by clicking here

I sadly suffer from all of them, and that, along with my advanced "mileage" (Its not the age of 58 that makes me feel old...its that danm mileage!) 🤣 I know that feeling, Steve. At almost 72 I'm certainly feeling somewhat used and abused myself. I've put so many actual miles on my right wrist driving a mouse that I have to wear a light brace during the day, and a very stiff brace at night while I sleep to allow my poor wrist to get some rest! 😡 As a professional modeler I spend a lot of time wielding a mouse, and have developed what I semi-jokingly tell my friends that I have a "mouse wrist." I just as fussy with adjusting pixels in Max as any painter such as yourself. Of course, aircraft painting can also be quite the challenge when the modeler's "paint kit" resembles an Escher drawing! I spend quite a bit of time trying my best to make painting as painless as possible. Nothing drives me nuttier than a vert stab on one sheet, and the rudder on a separate sheet, all of which are set at weird angles... Fr. No truer words have ever been spoken! To me, the worst is not only when adjoining parts are on 2 different maps and rotated, but scaled differently as well. I can see the benefit of optimizing real estate on a texture map for better performance, but if your model is impossible for freeware painters to paint, I believe it's harder to sell in the long run. As far as wrists go...I've taken to grabbing the mouse with my left hand for a while, or when precision movement is not needed. It's helped, but you never get used to it. September 8, 20205 yr Tried a trackball yet? Could do at least for work. Needs a little time to get used to

While it does work, it simply doesn't have enough 'friction' to allow for precision when dealing with single vertices. Fr. Hey Steve, you ever considered one of these? http://www.carpaltunnelgadgets.com/products/logitech-m570-wireless-trackball/ If I recall correctly, research into carpal tunnel showed that trackballs were far better for preventing and/or not aggravating existing hand/wrist/carpal tunnel related ailments. Since you're a sailor, you already know there is no cure for the other causes of such injuries, except for shore duty that is. Anyway, we can't have one of the best repainters in the community out for something as silly as too much of anything involving the hand/wrist! Hey Dave, Tried trackballs, and even a wycom drawing tablet and cant get used to them. Maybe I'll try again, its been a while. Hehe, I frequently got carpal tunnel out at sea...you know greasing the main rotor head on the SH3 😉 I may not be completely out of painting....we'll see what the future holds. 🙂 Regards, Steve DraGet my paints for MSFS planes at flightsim.to here, and iFly 737s hereDownload my FSX, P3D paints at Avsim by clicking here

I was sceptical, even though I could appreciate the theory, but I'm a convert. Bought the Anker as a cheap experiment before committing to the Logitech MX Vertical. The Anker is slimmer so maybe not quite as good for larger hands or longer fingers but I still like it. The Logitech is more supportive however and worth the higher price in my opinion. Wrist strain is a fraction of what I would get after extended use of a conventional mouse and it took me no time to adapt to, which surprised me. I combine them with the Kensington gel wrist wrest/mat.
