They don't do EVGA, the main reason for that one is runs almost completely silent. But alway open to ideas.

Not sure

Again am open to other ideas.

Corsair? Seasonic? Both good PSU makes and should be a lot cheaper than that super expensive Asus PSU. Most  PSU's now have an eco mode, so the fan stops running when idle. Noise shouldn't  be an issue. Check the reviews for the PSU you choose. Gold is sufficient, you don't need platinum or titanium. The additional efficiency compared top Gold wont be noticeable on your electricity bill.

Re RAM, GSkill is my preferred make.

I will have a look, thank you, they never have GSkill in stock or i would have gone with them. Seasonic are all just about out of stock but some good Corsair's and a good saving on price also but again most are out of stock, got this one in.

Hi Paul,

Looks great mate. Hopefully it will last a long time. I normally buy the best I can afford and 3 years later upgrade the GFX and hopefully thats a 6 year deal.

I've been planning a new PC for 2.5 years, but I heard the 10xxx CPU where coming and was going to buy at 2070S release then everyone was saying 3000 where coming...we would wait forever but the 3000 to me were the trigger.

I hope we are both going to have a lot of fun. 🙂

We're in the same boat.  I hovered over the 1080ti, then the 2080/2080ti and as you say, on this basis we'd wait forever!  The final catalyst for me was upcycling my FS PC to replace a dead one at work leaving me convinced, like you, the 3000 series was all I need to get a new PC.

After no FS of any kind for almost 3 months, I've got to face trying not to just rush in and install MSFS without thinking through what's going back on the new PC and where.  I'll still probably rush in though

IMO MSFS is fantastic, it runs really well on my current PC, the airliners are not there and it will be next year before we see PMDG NG, but never in the last 15 years I've I flown GA because well frankly there is not much to them and flying low and slow over landclass is just not right. Now am learning how to really fly VFR and for the first time ever I can fly by using my eyes and its not only great fun but the views are 90% of the time breathtaking.

P3D can only come close if you use Orbx TE and then you would still need to turn on every shadow option and traffic On.

MSFS  the weather and clouds...wow. Yep its a new world and a wonderfully one were I don't have to buy scenery to enjoy an area. I love the Bonanza G36 the 172 G1000 and for a jet the CCL. I love MSFS and all it brings.

I did a tour of Spain and Portugal. Left Lisbon at real time one morning and this was the view. Enjoy your PC Paul and enjoy MSFS.

Will be happy to hear how good your new system performs. I recently switched from my 4770K@4.5 to a 10700K@5.0, but I'm currently keeping my GTX1070. The upgrade of the processor (and of course mainboard, RAM, SSD, etc.) already made a huge difference. I'm now waiting for a 20Gb model of the RTX3080 as I'm running the sim in 4K and 10Gb seems to be very tight for 4K resolution.

I have always stayed away from 4k as so many people have told me how bad the performance hit is over 1080, am sure its looks super sharp and in another 3 years when I plan to upgrade the GFX let's say it will be a 4080 with 24GB VRAM then that might also take me to 4k land. I have a super sharp 29" screen and 1080x1920 is fine ATM. But I totally get your thinking Carlito.

Then the 3080 should give you a VERY smooth ride in MSFS. Even on ultra settings.

I'm on a 49 inch 4K TV after moving away from a triple 1080p screen setup. So I need a 4K capable graphics card...

Great news! Have fun with it! It will certainly make a huge difference to your current setup! I'm also very much looking forward to buying a new GPU once RDNA2 or the 20Gb 3080 are released.

All set up, good and bad.

The Good!

FPS with same setting as I don't see the need to run full Ultra.

Bonanza G36

EGNX Runway 27 Old PC FPS 49-51

EGNX Runway 27 New PC FPS 65-70 =40% increase.

EGLC Orbx with London Orbx Runway 27 OLD 41-43

EGLC Orbx with London Orbx Runway 27 NEW 60-65 =50% increase in a much harder place.

Very happy with that. Not done a flight or even taken off yet.

After stress testing CPU and GPU etc all good and cores at full stress all peak out at a temp 76. So that's all good

The bad!

I cannot connect my controllers, well I can but MSFS CTD when I press fly, not the first one the second one when you join the runway ( set to fly not parked up).

I get "Not Enough USB Controller Resources"

I have gone into power and turned management to performance also never turn down USB's and NCP is also set to performance. But after reading up its not about power its about "lines"

I have no idea what to do now.
