Doubled my Frame Rates in Glass Cockpit Aircraft

Featured Replies

I have installed the “FPS Increase -Lower 2D Instrument refresh Rate” Mod by 2Cas.  I have found that if I expand the GPS display (Right Alt click on display) my FPS doubles.  I typically run at 30-40 fps.  This action has me running at 50 – 70 fps.  I enlarge and move the display to a second monitor.  I’ve tested this on the Cessna 172 G1000 and the Beach Baron.

Update on what I posted.

I was measuring frame rates with Riva Tuner.  I ran the same flights, same adjustments  again using both Riva Tuner and Developer Mode.  Riva Tuner is showing 2X the FPS as the Developer Mode FPS.  The frame rates however seem to be more consistent with no major dips in frame rates.

This mod is the real deal.  I like the idea of being able to dial up the setting in the setup menu as well.  Hopefully Asobo will add this as a feature.

You need help with the FPS with a rig like that? wow

Not really, but it sucks that that the glass cockpit models are so poorly optimized in the sim that that you see frame rate hits in even a computer build like mine.  The “mod” restores frame rates to what I consider normal.

my hope, would be that Asobo realizes that this is a pretty big hog.

wouldn't get your hopes up this whole thing was an exercise in eye candy...

Yikes - another one - Don't feed the trolls! 😁

I will now go back to the 'eye candy' simulator and enjoy flying in it more than any other flight sim ever... ever!

I like to trick airline passengers into thinking I have my own swimming pool in my back yard by painting a large blue rectangle on my patio.

That's not true at all.

I'd understand where he is coming from if the OP had provided his MSFS settings and where he is flying at the time. My system specs are in full view and my MSFS is butter smooth.  Does that make any sense without my settings?  Or where I am flying?  What if I am medium to low settings everywhere and flying over northern Indiana?  Understand Tuskin38 is responding off of a presumption, but the focal point of the topic implies a chase to highest detail to me as well.  I am locked at 30 and have seen nothing challenging 30.  But then!  What are MY settings and where am I flying.

Just saying....

I installed it but gave me less fps, deleted it and fps were back to 30

That’s because it’s measuring the frame rate of the pop out window, not the sim itself... There have been several videos of people supposedly getting insanely high frames by doing weird things like popping out 2D displays etc. with external frame rate counters, and it’s all because their external counter is simply counting the rate of the popped out window.

It works, but impact is very small, just like +5%:

Perhaps the more screens, the more effective the mod? What about a plane like the TBM which has three main and two menu glass screens?
