WAMA version 1.30 has been released today. This contains the MSFS 2024 prototype and updated logic to deal with the MSFS 20/24 scenery API

Wowee. A pleasant surprise! I think I was one of the first to get WAMA for P3D (way back in March 2017!). This is fantastic news. Thank you.

I have MSFS 2024 but have yet to install it. I'm looking forward to try out WAMA again after I tried versions for MSFS 2020. Those worked too and I always wondered why a final version was never officially released for MSFS 2020. The last version I tried for MSFS 2020 was for version:  WhereAreMyAircraft_1_26_b02.

Hardware: i7-8700k, GTX 1070-ti, 32GB ram, NVMe/SSD drives with lots of free space.
Software: latest Windows 10 Pro, P3Dv4.5+, FSX Steam, and lots of addons (100+ mostly Orbx stuff).

  • Yes, something apparently changed in the scenery files, that is tripping up the scanner now. Not to worry though. I've taken a look into the new methods available in SimConnect, and if they work

  • To all WAMA users: the latest MSFS prototype has been uploaded to the shops. The DEMO version (on the lorby-si.com website) has been updated too.

  • Same here. I bought it when it first showed up on my radar in P3D 4.5.  Used them a little bit in MSFS. Being able to simply display add-on aircraft owned without being able to operate them in th

Because the sim always was a moving target. Still is. I can never be sure that things won't change from one update to the next. And some items are still broken (in FS20 and 24) that WAMA would like to use, like the SLEW over SimConnect and the AI flight models.

Just came here to congratulate you for keeping developing this amazing product! Like someone previously said, I also didn't notice that there was an update, since SimMarket doesn't notify us.

Since April 2024 I have been having an issue with one of my sceneries on FS2020 (still don't have 2024). When compiling the gate database, mat a certain point, the simulator closes itself without any error and the gate information stops creating the database. Unfortunately the latest WAMA version didn't solve the problem.

WAMA is using the Scenery API from MSFS, as specified in the SDK. There is nothing that the app could do differently here, I would expect this to happen with every app that queries the API in the same way. Maybe you should notify the creator of the scenery, I imagine that a problem like this will have other effects too, like performance degradation, stutters or crashes (maybe check the error console in MSFS developer mode?)

Thanks for your quick reply!

I still don't know what scenery is doing this, as I didn't have the time nor patience to test each scenery for it (or in bundles). I'll do it some day.

Regarding the error console in dev mode, I don't know how to use it, but I'll do some research.

Once again, thank you for your amazing software that can show my fictional private fleet when I land or depart from the airport where they are based 🙂 which otherwise wouldn't show up.

With all the recent MSFS 2020 and 2024 updates as of April 2026, is there any chance WAMA might get updated to work again? And on Microsoft’s end, what would they actually need to do to make WAMA possible?

Depends on what you mean. WAMA cannot stop MSFS from crashing when querying certain sceneries. Also, the streamed content in MSFS 2024 rules out any hope for WAMA gaining full functionality like it had in P3D. Add to that the issues with the AI aircraft in general.

Now that you remind me, I think that the time has come to retire WAMA for good. It has had its time, but that is in the past.

Hopefully something eventually steps up to replace WAMA. A lot of longtime simmers have hangars full of aircraft bought during sales, flew once, and then parked forever — so there’s definitely a niche for a proper aircraft‑tracking tool. It’s the same pattern we’ve seen for decades: throw a discount at simmers and they'll buy addons they had no business buying in the first place.  A tool that lets simmers park them, admire them, and show off their ‘investment portfolio’ absolutely has a market in my opinion. 🙂

Steam industrialized what we were already doing back in small scale since the FS2004 days. It’s the same psychology that keeps Steam in business...

Steam Sales Strategy: Billions In Revenue & Gamer Growth
"Erik Johnson, Valve’s project management lead, helped develop the framework for these dynamic pricing models. The company discovered that deep discounts could actually increase overall revenue by reaching price-sensitive customers who would never purchase at full price. This counterintuitive approach proved that volume could compensate for reduced margins in digital distribution."

replace WAMA

Replace in what capacity? What WAMA can still do is track and park the aircraft that you actually fly (provided that the 3D model of the aircraft can be injected as a new object). What WAMA cannot do (and TMBK nothing else can) is provide a list of all aircraft that you have in your hangar. That data is often only "in the cloud", there are no local config files to parse etc.
