Performance of new Nvidia 456.38 driver with MSFS?

Featured Replies

Pretty interesting things like the performance overlay and some sort of performance tuning based on the game profile it seems.

Chock 1.1: "The only thing that whines louder than a jet engine is a flight simmer."

Reading in official msfs forums stay away from it causing issues also its geared more to launch of 3000 cards

Nice to hear as I am the first to try a new video driver - dont shoot the messenger

No problems here, with the sim seemingly working just as it was with the last set. Using dev mode the frames remained as they were before, but without a dedicated bench in the sim it's impossible to say if there has been any real change.

Working fine for me, it even fixed video lag when running a video on my second screen.

for me ok too, just did a 30min flight, like usual without any probs.

Edit: i dont know if the new driver gives better fps, after the patch yesterday i only did a short quick flight,

and now i use the new nvidia driver, i cant compare it. But it runs really smooth!

One of the best things about this driver

GeForce Experience’s much-loved ShadowPlay gameplay recording tech now supports HDR capture on GPUs dating back to the GeForce GTX 900 Series. And on the GeForce RTX 3090, users can capture at 8K 30 FPS with HDR enabled

ASUS ROG STRIX Z390-E GAMING / i9-9900k @ 4.7 all cores w/ NOCTUA NH-D15S / 2080ti / 32GB G.Skill 3200 RIPJAWS / 1TB Evo SSD / 500GB Evo SSD /  2x 3TB HDD / CORSAIR CRYSTAL 570X / IPSG 850W 80+ PLATINUM / Dual 4k Monitors

So I just did a simple test of HDR ShadowPlay recording and it works like a charm. For you MSFS video creators with HDR monitors this is a huge breakthrough.

Anyone with an HDR enabled monitor. You should see the HDR logo on the gear icon in Youtube. I've been waiting for this feature for ages and its awesome! Some may not even know Youtube has supported HDR for awhile now but creating HDR content has been limited for end users.

My simple 4k/60fps/HDR recording test. (If you don't have an HDR display this is useless)

That looks fantastic! I had no idea when I started using my TV as a computer monitor that I'd be seeing a flight sim look like this. Happy accident, I guess.

Once you starting flying MFS in HDR, I don't see how you could ever go back to a flying it without.

I can put up with the growing pains of MSFS because there is no going back now..

Man I need to do some maintenance on my cooling loop and while my system was near the living room I thought about hooking it up to my LG CX to see how it looks, must resist, can't afford a 4K HDR monitor or the card to effectively drive 4K right now (at the graphics settings I'd want to use)

Thanks for the sample video. A quick question, do you now get the option to record with the HEVC codec even in an SDR game? I have an older card so I wouldn't have that option.
