The spinning heading bug of death

Recommended Posts

Second time I've encountered this.. I'm a big fan of using CTRL DEL or INSERT to set my heading bug and it randomly will freak out and just continue non-stop doing complete  counter/clockwise rotations at about one rotation a second without any input from the keyboard and is just stuck doing that. Has anyone had this happen and if so found a way to stop it without closing the sim?

I had that. I don´t remember exactly what I did to stop it. I think I pressed the opposite key to stop the rotation.

I've had this happen countless times, and I've never figured out how to make it stop.  Everything becomes unresponsive and I have to use task manager to kill the app.  In fact, after I read the post, I went and tried it again and sure enough, the spin of death.  It would also happen to me when I used the knob in the cockpit if I held it too long.  Since the latest update however, I think they fixed it in the cockpit because it only moves one degree at a time, instead of the accelerated increase as when using Shift Insert/Delete too aggressively.  The solution is to just do it VERY SLOWLY.  Not really a solution but live and learn.

Never experienced although I mainly use the mouse wheel.

The few times I used the key binding (in external view) I luckily never had it.

BTW great name for the bug! 😂

Yes have sometimes encountered this. Never found a way to stop this without exiting the sim.

I have found when this happened I had depressed the key for a reasonable time to move the heading bug in excess of 100 degrees. Now I do this in shorter bursts and that appears to eliminate the issue.

lol yes! Happens to me every now and then causing my flight to end abruptly. So when going cross country for longer distances i try to avoid the keyboard commands. 😛
