September 18, 20205 yr I personally think this kind of scenery is great and will absolutely support it. I love the photogrammetry cities, but know that as soon as helicopters hit I'm gonna wanna get close (rooftop close) and the photo-based stuff starts to breakdown at that point. Id prefer a really well done handcrafted city (DD's Washington DC is a good example) when I can get it for this reason. Would love to see the photogrammetry expanded however into surrounding areas where we wont expect a custom scenery to be implemented. Its so nice to see true representation of the landmarks (from 1000' up at least). 1 hour ago, tweekz said: If blackshark improves their algorithm, how much effort would it be to push such a world update? I noticed that in offline mode the building shapes are still the same. So it must be stored offline. How big would such a patch be? 60GB? That's probably why they only talk about regions of the world to be updated. I also hope that for single buildings (like adding churches, radio antennas) they won't have to replace a whole package. There would be NO patch for this kind of thing. The data is streamed everytime you play so you'ld get an update automatically without having to change anything on your pc. And since it doesnt involve a patch release/install they can do this on whatever schedule works best on their end without the need to prep the users for the steps they need to deal with for a regular software update process.

I think you are 95% correct! They could indeed change the ai to distinguish churches, marinas and farm buildings and flag them in the steaming data but there probably also needs to be a small patch to add the models that it can select from. September 18, 20205 yr Commercial Member I mentioned in another thread that bing appears to have other data that the ai currently isn’t using. So for example in some areas of the uk they seem to have accurate building footprint data which can be viewed in 3D mode that seems more accurate in size and height than the ai is deriving from top down views of roofs and shadows. Fair enough 🙂

For payware, I'd prefer more general packages, that don't concentrate on one single area. Here are some ideas: "USA Bridges" "TV towers of Europe" "Castles of France" You get the idea... OH GOD NO PLEASE NO. This was the EXACT problem with X-Plane. You could get the world to be somewhat accurate with Ortho, and the 5,342 addons that all seemed to require separate dependencies to work right to add in correct landmarks and various other clutter.. While accurate to a degree it was a full time job.. September 18, 20205 yr I wish MS would overlay the high resolution Phototextures for Runway textures rather than their standard 3 or 4 runway textures they are using. I checked KBVS the default airport and compared it with the ORBX KBVS (in P3D). The default ain't too bad but for the runways.. they are brand new and dark newly built runway in MSFS default. They could have used the photo scenery textures and overlay on the runway. This way each runway will be unique and real. If MS doesn't do this, it could be an opportunity for addon developers. MAnny I think "Airport Enhancement Packs" will be a big deal very soon. There are a few good ones for X-Plane, replacing basically all textures used in the standard airports. - Currently giving X-Plane 12.10 a spin on Shadow PC. 10 years with X-Plane now, since 10.20
