Performance with 2080ti and 3080

at 1080 and 1440 they are pretty much even, but at 4k the 3090 pulls ahead by a little, not $1k ahead, but ahead.

It’s the ram I was worried about. I feel 10gb is too low for simming.

Do not forget the 3080 card uses 3 PCI slots. A 750 Watts or more power supply is recommended.
You need a large case, and CPU watercooling system, or will listen to another aircraft from your computer.

3080 is a very good video card, 3090 too (available soon)

No it doesn't !!

Yes, and I thought about waiting for the 20gb version, but considering how much faster the 10gb version is than the 2080ti which has more ram I decided to go for it. Might end up wishing for more vram in the future but for now it looks good for me. Considering the money saved, in a couple of years can always upgrade, but I think that CPU is going to be the limiting factor especially for addons.

You can buy mine. It’s 10 months old, and has a custom cooling Arctic fan on it that keeps it cooler and lower temp. And quieter.

Just saw you are in England. In the states!

I think the 3080 is 2-slot and the 3090 3-slot.

exactly.  the 3080 uses two.  The 3090 consumes three slots.

The 3090 will also be very useful when VR arrives...

There are 16GB 3070 Super cards and 20 GB 3080 cards due for release in a few months. No need for a 3090 just for Ram.
