how to quick test fsuipc7 for controller sensitivities.

Recommended Posts

since you can't set sensitivities in MSFS right now, save your controller profiles before messing around changing things.

Clone (duplicate) your old controller profiles and save the new duplicates with new names. You can go back to your old ones with original names anytime. Meanwhile in the new profiles 'clear current input' for aileron, elevator, and rudder axis (don't do this before backing up your profiles because you can't change things in MSFS Options Controls after the last patch).

download fsupic7 https://forum.simflight.com/topic/90193-fsuipc7-beta-for-msfs/

Unzip, put files  in a handy folder and click the .exe file.

Start MSFS and do an Alt-F (opens FSUIPC).

select Assignments, Axes... (make sure the FSUIPC has an FSUIPC7.keys file in the FSUIPC folder or you won't see "Assignments)".

move stick back and foward, select 'profile specific' and name the fsupic profile to whatever you want.

Under 'Type of Action Required': check the top box, select 'send direct to FSUIPC Calibration' and select 'elevator' in the drop down window.

click OK

Click rescan and do everything the same again  (except ignore 'profile specific' because you already have that box checked), only this time move the stick left and right and select: aileron and 'Send direct to FSUIPC Calibration', and click OK.

Click rescan and do everything again (ignore 'profile specific' again), move pedals and select rudder in drop down menu, select 'Send direct to FSUIPC Calibration', click OK.

You're done. You will now see a response in MSFS flying with no sensitivity curve, and no effectiveness set (as of yet).

But the response in the sim will be 50 times less squirrely and less over the top at controller extremes than if you were using MSFS instead of FSUIPC to manage controller movements.

And now you could if you want to go ahead and set a sensitivity curve in the "Joystick Calibration" part of FSUIPC, and set the 'effectiveness' by text editing just two numbers in FSUPIC7.ini as explained in AVSIM tricks and tips. But without doing either, it still is a far better flying experience for you and FSUIPC to be manning the controls, instead of you and FS.
