CTD P3D V4.5 latest ver. Unable restore sim - help needed

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I was destroyed this morning after finding out that NOTHING works anymore in the sim.

1. Reboot does not help.

2. Removing autogenerated debug files as stated by P3D does not work. P3D.cfg/Scenery_Index64/ etc... did not help.

3. I did even Scan Files to restore any corrupt windows via CMD prompt as administrator. Stated 100% health.

4. Removing last added scenery addons did not help.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

It all started after installing FSDG Banjul airport in P3D V4. When I loaded up the airport with std F-22 at Banjul international airport, the sky tyextures were black, runway black, all autogen except flat terrain were black.

After deleting this airport and few more before this one, the sim did not start anymore. I get now CTD at 83% loading when weather is finishing.

What to do now??? I have many addons so reinstall is not going to happen. Can anyone help me?

Thanks.

Peter

First, do not go around our word filters with masked profanity.

What is your default flight?  I'd first try resetting the startup scenario to something that worked before, by editing the SITUATION= line in the USERINTERFACE section of the Prepar3D.cfg file.

It could also be a boogered-up scenery configuration, in one of the two scenery.cfg files or one of the two add-ons.cfg files.  If you use the free Lorby-SI P3D Addon Manager, you can usually see if there's a problem in the scenery configuration by looking for red/pink entries where they should not be.  Look for blank or duplicate entries or something else out of whack.  And for future reference, using that tool to save a backup of all your config files is a good way to avoid this pain in the future--I religiously save out my configs with the one-click backup feature in P3D AOM after installing any new add-on...recovering from the backup is then just as easy.

Hi Bob,

Jeez,

Got it up and running once again! P3D V4.5 Setup repair did a fantastic job. A true sticky. Could not be easier!

Regards,

Peter

EDIT:

Still have question, times it get glitchy I see.

Is there any hard limit on amount scenery that can be loaded?

I don't know what you mean by "glitchy".

There were problems if you had too many xml packages in versions prior to 4.3, but the only effect of having tons of them now is long loading times.

I use the P3D Addon Manager referenced above to group my sceneries together.  When I fly in/through a specific area (e.g. EU, US), I activate the sceneries by double-clicking on the group (group name turns green), when I'm done, I double click again and it de-activates them (group name turns red).  I have, at last count, over 300 add-on sceneries, plus all the buffed-up Orbx global freeware stuff.  It really speeds things up to only have the region I'm actually using active.

Hi Bob,

That Lorby-manager does the job good. I thank you for it, because it helped me much to sort things out.

Nontheless, the P3D Setup repair tool helped me repair the base install! This was my exact problem and I will encourage any other people to do that as well.

Now, let's fly again shall we 🙂

Kind regards,

Peter
