If they would release a full featured SDK as opposed to just sharing trade secrets with one or two big developers. If only they actually listened to the tech insiders. Maybe in a year or so this software might be cracked up to what they advertised it as. Until then I'll stick mostly with P3D. Knowing nothing other than what I've read here over the past few weeks, I don't think MS intended their representation to be a competitor of P3D. As I watch the P3D forum start to light up again, I think I'm not the only one that's slowly coming to this conclusion. Potential is in the future, P3D is now. Cheers, Mark

September 24, 20205 yr I always imagined MSFS to be the VFR go-to sim, whilst P3D still for my airliners, especially PMDG. Turned out to be true. And most of my friends also. After a while the novelty of MSFS' VFR sight seeing flights eventually faded, and most of us are back in P3D doing cargo/pax runs for our local virtual airline. 😄 Romano Lara

September 25, 20205 yr I miss Flight Unlimited 3 (and the small community that it generated) I guess you could say that I have come back to P3Dv4.5HF2, but that was after two months of messing about driving supercars in Assetto Corsa Christopher Low AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D CPU / 64GB DDR5-6000 RAM / 12GB Nvidia RTX 4070 Super GPU / Gigabyte X870E Aorus Elite Wifi 7 / 1+2TB Samsung Evo Plus M2 Nvme UK2000 Beta Tester

I agree...but even then, did they not just dumb down all the LOD's that made the RTM visuals...a gobsmack! It was in fact the LOD gutting, as well as the ever growing Haunted Instrument Panel, that made me mumble the word; "...meh....", and come back to P3D v4/5 as my MAIN go to sim. Of course (I paid so much money for the Premium Deluxe in through-the-nose, CDN funds...) I will still click on MSFS, for a quick VFR sled'ed run over the countryside, well, until I lose most of my aviontics...or the psycotic Auto Pilot tries to sell me the farm.... Had a great immersive long-term Welcome Back flight in v5.x yesterday...and all is good, once more. MSFS needs to bake for a few more months in the Dev's oven...

September 25, 20205 yr I hope LM fixes lighting and atmospherics, which is lacking at present, in this respect 4.5 HF3 is much better. September 25, 20205 yr My concern with v5.1 is add-ons currently compatible with v5.0 won't be maintained to be compatible with future versions of P3D since the focus will be solely on MSFS... September 25, 20205 yr I’m slowly rebuilding my p3d installation. Gonna take a while to download, tweak and install what I need. I couldn’t imagine how frustrated I would be with the airliners in MSFS2020. Glad I can utilize my investment once again! Though I do have to say download expirations suck and waiting for devs to respond with a chance of getting a new access to download something you paid for sucks all the same too!

Just finishing that task myself. Reinstalled 4.5 because I miss my DC6, 717, and Milviz Otter which I think will be a long while yet coming to V5. Also some add-on airport that just don't port over to version five. Reinstalling a sim is a long grueling three day task. Shouldn't have uninstalled in the first place but P3D and addons spread so many files all over the C drive even though the main sim folders are on D drive. C starts filling up with two different versions installed. Sure would be nice if everything could be neatly packaged in one folder. Edited September 25, 20205 yr by PATCO LCH Correction Vic green
