I plan to install v5 once v5.1 is out but keep v4.5 as well.

Problem is my documents folder with all add-ons. Can one create a separate folder for this purpose for v5 (on a separate drive)?

The addon folder will be created automatically and it will have a different name so yo will have both side by side: ...\Documents\Prepar3D v4 Add-ons   and   ...\Documents\Prepar3D v5 Add-ons

Very storage space consuming.

Thanks so I guess I'll use a simlink to move it out of drive C which is full with v4.5 add-ons

Just finishing that task myself. Reinstalled 4.5 because I miss my DC6, 717, and Milviz Otter which I think will be a long while yet coming to V5. Also some add-on airport that just don't port over to version five. Reinstalling a sim is a long grueling three day task. Shouldn't have uninstalled in the first place but P3D and addons spread so many files all over the C drive even though the main sim folders are on D drive. C starts filling up with two different versions installed. Sure would be nice if everything could be neatly packaged in one folder.

The TFDI 717 is updated for V5 now. I miss the DC-6 too though.

No need, the majority of installers for aircraft in P3Dv4/v5 for example offers to install it wherever you want (A2A, FsLabs, Aerosoft and so...).
Other developers will install them directly in the sim (PMDG, Milviz and so...).
The only one to my knowledge that requires to install the aircraft addon in Documents on C disk is Leonardo (Maddog).
All my addons (except Maddog) are on the disk D in a directory that I created.

to clarify, maddog will install into your my documents folder on another disk if that’s where this folder is located.

i have “my documents” setup on a large platter drive, and thats where the maddog is. Dont recall if there was any option during the install process, but it’s definitely not on my c drive!
