Live developer Q&A on Twitch at 10:30am PST.

I really wonder what communication/marketing strategy they will take regarding the issues introduced by the recent patch. It will be some kind of test - if they just ignore the issue and will praise the Japan visuals and the idea of adding insects to the grass (really, in one interview they contemplated it), it would be very bad prognostic for the sim future.

Looks like a fly by of Florida to me?

Edit: just noticed it probably hasn’t started yet...

Curious how they will react to the FBW topic. It got about three times as many votes as the second topic.

It is supposed to begin in exactly 30 minutes from now. The VOD should also become available on YouTube later for anyone who can't watch now. Let's hope they will answer the more pressing community questions, and that they will give us a clearer roadmap on their bug-fixing/hotfix and feature addition plans.

World updates going to happen every 2-3 months.

World Update #2 is going to feature the USA.

They intend to release VR alongside the HP Reverb G2. Announcing closed beta for MSFS VR in late October / early November in order to make sure they get it right at launch. Can sign up on website now.

They're "making a sim for simmers." Super thankful for feedback. Admit that they rushed a bit and they're in the process of fixing those regressions. They're reading the bug lists and wishlist.

Sim update #1 is coming in early November to address hopefully all of the issues that people are bringing up.

Going over top wishlist items.

(1) Upvote for removal of press any key to start

Very easy fix. They skip the page with the developer version they use, so sounds like they forgot about it. Won't speed things up, but the page will be taken away.

(2) FlyByWire Community Mod A320 / other aircraft improvement mods - are there plans to recognize / officially support these developers?

They love what's happening and seeing the energy put into these planes. They have contracts with all manufacturers for these airplanes (Airbus, etc. helps them with info). They just need to ask Airbus (which they have done), but they haven't gotten a response back. They want to support it, but waiting for Airbus to give a response. Not sure if they can actually publish it in their store as freeware etc., but they want it to be available widely.

(3) Scenery Gateway System

Need to make sure that objects created by people aren't stripped from Google Maps, but they'd like to do it. They would also like to create a freeware section in the store, but they don't know when it'll come (definitely next year though).

DirectX 12 probably won't increase performance a lot, some people won't even notice change. They're mostly adding it for new graphical features like Ray Tracing. No time frame for its release.

(4) Replay system is in their backlog. They have a replay system they use every day as a dev tool that isn't very user friendly (and you need two computers to use it via local network), but the tech is there. They'll see when they have time to release it. Will come in one of the sim updates, and among the top of their priorities.

And with that... what is a backlog? They have a list of bugs and tasks that go into a database, and they get assigned to people on the team. They then prioritize them based on their severity. If a highly requested feature is on the backlog, it might still have a high priority despite not having a high severity - as soon as crashing bugs are fixed, they can work on those.

(5) ATC Remembering

This has already been fixed (I think the host forgot this & Seb too).

(6) DX12

They have a big team working on this that has been doing so for a little while. Not going to be for performance reasons primarily - more opening up room for ray tracing, effects. etc. Doesn't collide with anything they do. They say it might not have much of an improvement for most people.

(7) NavBlue & Charts+

Agreement is to get new nav data every 28 days. They put it into the next update that they are publishing (update 2 is the first that had an update). Next update will come mid October.

Charts are more work. Charts were once on the plan for launch but didn't make it. Will be in a sim update (not in the first one, but one of the future ones).

(8) Weather System for 3rd Party Devs

They think of the weather as such an integral part of the sim & they have to think about it. It's great that there are 3rd party solutions, but not sure if they want it in their in-sim store yet. They are very committed to making the weather system awesome. Not sure & can't answer this completely yet.

(9) Freeware in the marketplace

They want this for sure. The devs already use some of the community created liveries etc.

(10) Multiple screen functionality

There are people working on it. In the pipeline. When it's ready, they'll release it. No current time estimate.
