Just my take, Pstrub, but in knowing human nature...and, the stress the world is under with C19....etc...

Easy, peasy...

My take.  I can either participate in a thread, (by merely reading it...) or pass it over...my choice. I don't have to lambast the O.P...because I didn't LIKE what he or she said....why?  Because I voluntarily...opened up the thread!  My action...nobody had a weapon to my temple...

Yeah, I think I mentioned it in another comment, I actually enjoyed reading your venting post, although I didn't agree with all points you made. And you're right, you don't have to read it if it's on a separate thread, I don't care much, either I click on it or I don't.

What really gets me though are the snarky comments that some users post seeking attention on any thread, no matter how unrelated it is, to vent the frustration about their own pet peeve, no matter how many times they've repeated the same thing in the past 6 weeks. Fortunately they're relatively few on here in the AVSIM community, a lot more on the official forums.

And about venting on a public forum... I think it's childish if you're still not done 6 weeks after the fact. Ok, I get it when new problems arise, and I agree that they should do more testing before the updates. But what it mostly comes down to is the fact that MSFS actually should be regarded early access, without labelling and pricing it accordingly. And this is old news by now.

Edit: And yes, I see harsh and unwarranted criticism from both sides. And comparing it to FB discussions about political topics, AVSIM forums are easy peasy... I try to word my criticism carefully, not to attack people, maybe I don't always get it right though. I think this level of criticism is something anybody should be prepared for when posting an opinion on a public forum. Personal attacks are uncalled for, but I guess we all know they happen on internet forums anyway, and we should be prepared to swallow (and criticise) them from time to time.

I absolutely agree, that if a poster has ALREADY at some point, 'vented the spleen'...it's his or her due.  Right...if they KEEP piling it on, as an O.P. originating another post thread...I absolutely agree...BUT...if 30 people, unique people, drop a dime on the same angst...to me...that is different. That is THEIR vent...their pressure valve going off...and they have a right to let it blow.  The same right, that someone seeing that...merely hikes down a different street, avoiding the steam... 🙂

I  would ask one question:

Did what you saw in the "Developer Q&A" on Youtube inspire confidence in the future of MSFS?

This is exactly what I was talking about.

I've been through this exact situation before with other games (big promises of a multi-year commitment, rushed release, lots of promised features missing/incomplete, patches that made things worse), and it didn't end well.

I'm "guardedly optimistic" based on the last Q&A that things will turn around, but need to see a couple of patches that are better executed to really know.

I like that they have engaged with some well regarded scenery makers to make scenery for the World Updates.  I wish they would do the same for the avionics.

My plan is to hop in a Bonanza this weekend and start flying around the world following the path of the 1924 Douglas World Cruiser flight, try to have some fun and not overthink.

That is more or less my issue.  I don't mind the venting threads or whatever that's all fair like others I just ignore them.  What I cannot stand is the people going into every single thread just being snide about the simulator no matter how irrelevant it is to the original post.
