The patch changes actually did make the commercial part of my rural home town and our hospital area look more realistic but at the expense of ruining the suburbs and adjoining towns. I can sort of see what they were trying to achieve with the patch but they really dropped the ball with how they went about it. This fix is brilliant. It was only supposed to fix certain commercial buildings. How did it ruin the suburbs? EDIT: never mind, see you weren't talking about the fix, but the patch. Edited September 30, 20205 yr by desbean
September 30, 20205 yr Building height is a big challenge for auto generated scenery. There was a tool called World2Xplane that let you generate buildings in that Sim based on street map data. The available data would often include building heights, but in many situations it did not and the software had to make a guess using a config file that a scenery designer could program. No matter what heuristics you gave, however, it would to lead to a compromise somewhere - there is just too much variability in the world. If you focused too much on the town center of villages and small towns, you would risk having 4 story buildings in residential areas which looked weird. If you focused too much on only residential, cities looked way too flat. That said, I found in practice after building a ton of my own US scenery that you were generally safer erring on the short side than the other way around. That's why I like the way this fix looks so far. The only way to truly fix this is to continue populating world data bases with the proper height. Chop chop Bing! Hehe 😉
September 30, 20205 yr Can someone post a link to the mod just in case I see this issue. So far, I have NOT seeing anything out of the ordinary. Thanks. Update: I think I found it on post 164: Buildings-Fix (1.9.3).zip.pln Edited September 30, 20205 yr by DJJose MSFS

Sometimes the community really is amazing!! https://forums.flightsimulator.com/t/buildings-much-too-high-in-1-9-3-0-patch/288300 Or some DEV working on this was embarrassed and wanted the fix out before the next update! 🙂 SAR Pilot. September 30, 20205 yr Commercial Member Everyone was basically resigned to wait the next update to fix this issue, then that Cptlucky8. what a guy!
October 1, 20205 yr My home town hasn't changed at all, none of the buildings are taller than they were in the previous version. So the height changes doesn't seem to effect every area. Edit: Oh as soon as I say this, I found a single tall building in my town, a Gas Station is now a small office building. Still, one building out of several hundred Edited October 1, 20205 yr by Tuskin38

Fixes the high rise buildings and apparently, LOD issues too. this is good for the time being but MS/Asobo should be the one fixing it Kind regards, Tim CPU: Intel Core i7-8700K (OC 4.7) CPU COOLER: Noctua nh-d15S GPU: Nvidia GTX 1070-Ti FTW2 8GB SSD: Crucial MX500 1TB HDD: Seagate 500GB - Maxtor 250GB - WD 250GB RAM: Team Vulcan 16 GB MBD: Gigabyte Z370P D3 PSU: Evga 650w OS: Win 10 Pro

The patch definitely improved the commercial and industrial areas of a lot of town it just wrecked the residential low rise suburbs. Once they do an official fix, you will need to remove the mod as it will overwrite any changes they make. Edited October 1, 20205 yr by Glenn Fitzpatrick

October 1, 20205 yr This is a prime example, of the need for hotfixes from the devs......no waiting, just fix it.
October 1, 20205 yr Thankfully they are rolling patches every few weeks so at least it's not a long wait. I'm a strong believer that a more effective approach is to take it one thing at a time. I don't want to rely on 3rd party utilities or mods to fix what is broken on this sim. MSFS
