Seoul-Incheon (RKSI) airport recommendations?

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone,

recently I saw that Pacific Islands Simulation released a new installer for P3D v5 for some of their airports, for example Incheon (RKSI) in Seoul. I'm already interested in this specific airport for a while now but there was no version for v5 until now. On simMarket I also saw the same airport from a developer called Le Aero Design and it's on sale right now until 4th of October.

Only from what I see on the pictures I'd rather tend to buy this one from PacIsland Sim but it is hard to say. I found a lot of material of that one on YouTube but for the Le Aero Design I only found those pictures from the shop and especially on picture 7 where you can see the Terminal 1 buildung it doesn't look that good... a little bit outdated in my opinion. Maybe someone has experience with both products and can tell which one is better.

Thanks a lot!

Regards 🙂

I wouldn't call PacSim's RKSI "very good," it's mediocre and overpriced. But it's the only one remotely close to being payware worthy, so that's your one option.

I am not certain, I haven’t flown there in a while.

I would be interested to know where the v5 installer can be downloaded.  I own the v4 version, but have not been able to find the v5 installer on the Pac Sim website or Facebook page.   😕

Since I'm only using v5 now, I've found the default RKSI to be satisfactory.

There's also a v5 compatibility fix at iniBuilds (an exclude file) that clears out some conflicting default v5 signs & buildings, IIRC.  I just created a separate scenery area for the exclude immediately below the entry for RKSI, which points to my existing P3Dv4 installation.

You have to send an email to Graham at PacSim, or just use your original link and the server will pop up and you add a comment into the box that you want the v5 installer. One thing I want to note is that there is a $6.99 charge to get the updated v5 installer.

Cheers, Pete

Thanks all for your thoughts on this!

I decided to buy PacSim's RKSI airport. Today I already flown an ILS approach into Runway 34 and you're right maybe it's not perfect but I don't regret it anyways. I'm quite satisfied with it.

Is there in the meantime someone, who bought the LE AERO DESIGN RKSI?

I ask, because the  Pacific Islands Simulation RKSI is in the sale on Black Friday and updated to Version to P3Dv5.

I have both, and both have their own pro's and con's.

Positive things about Pacsim Version:

  • V4\V5 Compatible
  • Large coverage area
  • Lots of hand placed buildings on the island, Bridge, etc.
  • Songdo district is modeled
  • Looks very nice coming in on approach!
  • Great details like Maglev and Incheon city!
  • Has multiple seasons and is generally well modeled

Negative things about Pacsim Version:

  • Dynamic Lighting is not up to par with most addons out there. (I use inibuilds profile to help with this, not perfect, but much better).
  • No night lighting on the terminals. (Only from the light poles)
  • Ground poly's are legacy style. (Would be nice to have PBR materials for pavement\runway\apron surfaces)
  • Glass textures could be improved.

Positive things about Le Aero Design Version:

  • V4\V5 Compatible
  • Entire airport is SODE controlled (Night Lighting, Jetways, VDGS etc)
  • Custom GSX file (This is a very neat feature that they spent a lot of time on. Parking positions are accurate depending on Aircraft type and incorporate custom pushback directions\stop points for each gate based off real airport ops)
  • 4K ground polygons with PBR
  • Dynamic Lighting is very good
  • Accurate amp markings

Negative things about Le Aero Design Version:

  • Airport is missing some textures on some buildings
  • Does not include whole island (No Custom autogen like the pacsim version)
  • No airport clutter. Feels a little empty compared to the Pacsim version, although I heard an update will address this
  • Uses GSX L2 models as jetways (They mentioned a future update will bring custom Sode jetways)

If I can think of more, I will edit my post. This was jsut from the top of my head. If there was a way to combine the two versions, it would be absolutely perfect. (I'm passionate about this location as majority of my flying is out of Seoul).

Hope this helps!

Hi Tino,

many thanks for your detailed discription.

I think i will go with Pacsim, because the screenshots of the surroundings are amazing.

May be there comes an update for PBR, etc., along.

Again thank you

Joachim
