I don't understand why we don't have an extremely detailed Wright Flyer.

Because of 120 foot long flights...

I'm looking forward to more private jets like the Gulfstream and Embraer.

We’ll never get a Gulfstream... they - the company - are dead set against there products appearing in sims...

There are others that want to charge huge royalty if you want to make a sim version pushing the price up substantially.

Any automated UAV. Because piloting in this game is pointless.

I had no idea! That seems like such a short-sighted decision, since it's basically "free advertising" (assuming people rich enough to buy a private jet also enjoy flight simulators).

I doubt you will ever see a Gulfstream, but Embraer has a lot to offer.  What do you have in mind?  A big one or a smaller one?

Something like this:

I am also looking forward to seeing Virtualcol's Beech 99, which allegedly could be released next week. Of course Virtualcol's stuff is cheap and cheerful, but this is exactly why I want to see what they've come up with for an MSFS release.

It is pretty common.   Generally the settlements include a clause that the deal has to be kept secret. Here is an old thread I found about a copyright dispute in one of the combat sims about 10 years ago. Most of it is conjecture as pretty much anyone that knew the facts was banned from talking about it.

I spoke to Mr. Patrick Joyce (310.201.3384) at Northrop this morning. He is the person who handles such things for their company; it might even be his only responsibility. Anyway, he was the person who requested TM fees from the Russian developer and eventually received said fees from the French publisher. He is not an attorney but here is what I could gather from our little chat.

Northrop/Grumman is requiring trademark licensing fees for the use of any aircraft, ship, boat, vehicle or weapon system that they our any of their acquired companies have ever produced. They maintain that all these things are covered by either registered trademark or “common law” trademark, sometimes both.

Upon further inquiry, he stated that all video/computer games, motion pictures, television, and toys are subject to these fees. When asked about literature, he said no.

I brought up the fact that the US government purchased these items and that they would seemingly be public domain. He said no, that both Northrop/Grumman and the US government own rights to the items.

As much as I like this sim, I consider it only 50% complete until we get a replay system, smoke effects, and one of these:
