Any way to make cockpit darker when under shadow?

P3D's lighting engine sucks, so much so that when the aircraft is under the shadow of a thick overcast the cockpit still has the same brightness as when the sky is clear.  Is there any way to add an expression in PTA to lower the cockpit brightness when the aircraft is under a shadow?
