October 5, 20205 yr It may be that the OP is flying different aircrafts than me, or that the legacy model acts differently on different systems, but I had a terrible time flying with the legacy. I tried it out because I wanted to check if I still got the wing dip on flare in the airbus that is a PITA on modern flight model. Notice how I am barely keeping -2000 ft per minute descent with this pitch attitude... She flew like that all the way down. I maxed out on how much I could pitch down before the protection kicked in, and I flew in this attitude all the way down to the runway and never getting more than -2.2k fpm. So yeah, the legacy model is totally busted for me on the a320. I dont have any problems with the modern flight model on the GA, and it only makes things worse on the jets. ... oh, and the wing still dips to the left in the flare 😞 😞 Edited October 5, 20205 yr by Andreas Stangenes Andreas Stangenes http://www.youtube.com/user/krsans78 Add me on gamertag: Bullhorns78

Bad habits - bs. I started flying for a living in the mid 1970s, found flight sims in the min 1980's and thought what a fantastic tool plus it was fun. It's been very helpful over the years right up to retirement. Now it's for fun. I think once mfsf2020 gets a little more development time under its belt, some decent add-on aircraft appear, weather aspect gets sorted out, it will be very good. Banning may have been an over-reaction. There were some real issues though including students using single seat combat flightsims lining the runway up with the centre of the windshield rather than the yoke and a tendency to push the plane onto the ground when floating rather than hold off due to excess float in the sims of the day. I suspect it was more than just flaws in the sim that were the worry, it was also low hour students spending too much time unsupervised without anyone to point out and correct bad habits.
March 12, 20215 yr After spending 2 days trying to figure out why several aircraft were going into an uncommanded bank (without turning), while on autopilot, I finally found that the cause was the choice of Legacy flight model. I switched it to Modern and the planes now fly like they should, even the very twitchy Cessna jets are stable, and level. I was ready to dump the sim before making this discovery. Microsoft -- take notice and warn the unsuspecting!
March 12, 20215 yr I love this sim to death. My only gripe, as far as the aerodynamics are concerned, is that there feels to be no inertia simulation. Or at the very least, incorrect inertia simulation. It appears to me like aircraft with thousands of lbs of weight can accelerate around any axis, and reverse that acceleration, at rates you'd only ever see in an RC aircraft. Whenever I watch videos of MSFS I can't help but think "I bet I can replicate that jiggle movement perfectly with an RC aircraft". Though maybe I'm wrong. Wouldn't be the first time. Take-offs are optional, landings are mandatory. The only time you have too much fuel is when you're on fire. To make a small fortune in aviation you must start with a large fortune. There's nothing less important than the runway behind you and the altitude above you. It's better to be on the ground wishing you were in the air, than in the air wishing you were on the ground.
March 12, 20215 yr The title of this thread unfortunately is misleading and it's become clear since it was written that the Legacy flight model totally breaks things for pretty much any MSFS aircraft. AMD 3950X | 64GB RAM | AMD 5700XT | CH Fighterstick / Pro Throttle / Pro Pedals
March 12, 20215 yr I wish they'd remove Legacy flight model. Any idea how many posts on the official forums EVERY DAY from people who have problems only to be pointed out that their solution is to change flight model to Modern? A TON. EVERY. SINGLE. DAY.
