October 9, 20205 yr I found this, an interesting addon to whom would like to try. https://unrealweather.blogspot.com/2020/09/unreal-weather-live-metar-released.html Unreal Weather is a very nice, free METAR based addon for MSFS user that would like to use another source other than Live Weather (Meteoblue) within the simulator. Details and links are in the link. I am testing it and works fine. Name of the app does not suit but, it is injecting real weather data to the sim.An alternateto check Live Weather of the sim. You can get the local QNH, as well. Happy flying. Edited October 9, 20205 yr by kt069 Intel i7-9700K - AMD 7900 XT (VRAM 20GB) - 32 Gb Ram - SSD Drive - Win10 x64 - Samsung 43" 4K TV - Quest 3 VR
October 10, 20205 yr Hmm, this look interesting, I may have to check this out. Have noticed any quirks with weather transitions when flying from one METAR station to another?

There are 2 folders in "UnrealWeatherLiveMetar1.4" 1.7.12.0-1.7.14.0 folder 1.8.3.0-1.9.3.0 folder Do these two folder belong in the main folder? Both of the above folders have a "WeatherEditionMenu.js" file. Does the metar api key go on both of these files? That's what is not clear. Thanks. MSFS

You will only copy 1.9.3 folder to your community folder. Because this is the latest release of your sim. (it contains older versionsof the mod which you do not need) You will just add the api key to this folder and run the sim. October 10, 20205 yr seems to work very well, I like how you access 'unreal weather' directly from the FS2020 toolbar weather menu! John

Very well integrated and flawless working addon. And seems to be very accurate with Vatsim weather and etc. Thanks to modders. October 10, 20205 yr Pardon my ignorance, but, why not just use the default weather? Edited October 10, 20205 yr by Ianrivaldosmith

Metar based weather matches the Vatsim weather almost perfectly. And few more reasons to use mods. Additionally, default live weather have problems with Vatsim. When you switch to live weather after connected to Vatsim, strangely aircraft models are disappearing. Your connection keeps still alive but no more aircrafts to see around. And, this addon forms different sky appereances with the same METAR conditions which gives you a variety of sky visuals. These are my findings and reasons to try it. VATSIM: if you fly on this network it uses METARS (current reported actual conditions), MSFS does not (calculated wx mass from METEO). And no, these two different wx systems will not match, even though we would very very much like them to. So, if you use MSFS wx and your on VATSIM, you may be vectored to land with a 20 knot tailwind for example. October 10, 20205 yr I just tested this weather add-on and I can't believe that it's freeware. You choose the mod the same way you choose a weather theme, weather is loaded instantly, the weather changes as it reaches different stations, and you can read the metar info in the weather selector window. Genius! ASOBO can learn something from these talented mod developers. MSFS
October 10, 20205 yr I have been testing this weather engine for a few days and I agree it is brilliant. It is very good for vatsim flying or if you want matching conditions at airports. It does not simulate the winds aloft though and that may be a problem for people flying high as the planning (fuel and ETAs) will be off. The author said that he/she will try to add this in the future. Actually 1.4 does have an experimental winds aloft but it is not very good IMO. overall though very solid mod. Thanks to the author! cheers Louis

Nothing, completely random, or close but no cigar?
