RICHUS take note..

I guess you mean me? Who are you to say 'take note'? I am entitled to my opinion. Even if you can't comprehend it.

That is true, but the point is those Youtubers wouldn't be trying MSFS at all if MS hadn't sent them a copy.

I believe that statement is fairly easily disproven for the majority.

Right now, an unbelievable amount of YouTubers are doing videos and live streams of themselves using this Sim, and only a modest proportion of them received anything free from Microsoft.

In actuality, they are doing these videos because it gets them views, and the reason it gets them views is because the advertising has made many people curious and interested.

Including the youtubers, influencers ant etc, themselves.

Wow. I can't believe folk are getting confused here. I am specifically talking about the Youtubers above..NOT ALL YOUTUBERS. You can't seriously tell me the two girls above would be trying MSFS if MS didn't send it?

Also, I believe I mentioned other youtubers, but folks only read what they want before they jump in to argue with someone I guess.

Asobo is obviously developing for ALL!

Asobo is possibly developing more for the millions on Xbox than the small niche market we are. I can totally understand that.

There was an attempt to gather a bigger userbase than the niche market simmers for Flight Simulation by Microsoft a while ago - and it failed. Lets see if this time around there is more success.

The pivotal question is wether MSFS can compete attention-wise with the games these "millions on Xbox" normally play...or if flight simulation, even portrayed as beautiful as it is in MSFS, can not capture their attention for long. Unlike the attention of us niche market nerds 😉

I am not sure about that - the target market does have an influence on the priorities during development.

Sure, it is fun to do aerobatics in a 787 - but I would think that a lot of folks here wish that the plane was a bit closer to it´s real life counterpart. I don´t think that Jenna and her audience of millions cared, though - so why should Asobo spend considerable effort on that for the few of us here (or on a SDK that allows someone else to do it)? 😉

Thanks for the x-plane-tion....

What you fail to realize is that MSFS is a money making marketing juggernaut....

Exposure and hype are just a means to an end...to enhance the user base. The MSFS store will bring revenue for "years" to come, and that revenue will fund further development...and the attract 3P Devs to produce better dlc...getting planes closer to their real life counterparts.

For example, Asobo has recently committed to enhancing the avionics as opposed to waiting for 3P Devs to do it. They listen, they learn, they adapt, they develop...

MSFS built a foundation / ecosystem to ensure that they don't run out of "steam" like the others. You won't see MSFS making mobile apps to fund their PC development.

If you look at DTG train simulator (not TSW or TSW2), the dlc drives all of the revenue. In a year or 2, what do you suppose the MSFS store will look like?

More money, more problems? Not so...more money, more development. From a marketing perspective, partnering with 3PDevs perspective, a community engagement perspective, a "pretty scenery" perspective....etc...MSFS is executing a flawless playbook...and they are scoring big!

MSFS has a business plan...these vids from YT channels with heavy a subscriber base stem from chapter 6 on how to utilize social media.

@Janov...perhaps this is the type of quality YT vid you would enjoy...

I thought I was careful to leave X-Plane out of the picture with everything I wrote... but since you brought it up (a bit obsessed with it, aren´t you? Fear? 😉 ) - as a matter of fact it is facing the same questions that undoubtedly Asobo faced when determining where to place effort in future features. I personally would throw all hands available at implementing the temperature effect on true altitude (also known as the 4% rule), which X-Plane does not model yet but which can be a life-and-death issue to aviators and their passengers... But guess where the development effort is getting directed these days 😉?

And yes, I think that video of Austin was great and I watched it with interest and a big smile on my face - I did not watch the girls unpack their gifted flight gear, I hope you enjoyed it!

Cheers, Jan

I don't know how many times I've discussed prop wash in regard to multiengine operations and now this video, albit on the ground and at idle, puts some hard numbers toward the velocity.

This is like Turboprop porn for instructors.

If anyone would like to send me catnip , bouncy balls , mice, scratching posts or anything else cat related I'll try it for you and then review it on Youtube. But I wont send it back. You wont want it back after I have cat slobbered all over it , especially with Covid 19 going around It makes me wonder if companies are like " No go ahead and keep it " .  Especially flight controls.

One thing is for certain! The release of MSFS 2020 has stirred up all levels of emotion and opinion like no other flight simulator platform has in the past and social media continues as the outlet.

@Janov I enjoy MSFS (along with many others)....with all of its shortcomings.

I mean we get it, the RWPs like you want extreme realism etc. But we realize that it is a process, and it takes time. MSFS took on a huge project to offer so much more, and there is more to come.

You don't have to mention XP...I smell it all over your biased posts (I mean, you admitted to not watching the vids, but wanted to comment / complain about MSFS in this thread)...intoxicated with hate for MSFS, and wanting to stick with a stale platform that has done little to nothing over the lat 5 years to push the boundaries.

The only 4% rule XP should consider....is that 4% of their users are on the desktop app, the other 96% are on the mobile app...so there you have it. They should focus all of their dev / resources / attention in creating the best "mobile" flight sim app available.

Considering their shrinking user base (and, yes...on the MSFS forum, we know how to properly read steam user stats), you most likely are not going to see much more development on XP for the PC side. Sorry, not sorry.
