My tale of woe (Download stuck on packages Install loop)

Featured Replies

Prior to the latest update for 2 months I had a perfectly working sim .

After several unsuccessful attempts at the latest update, (Download stuck on packages Install loop) I reinstalled a backup copy of my 😄 drive (windows) from 14-9-2020, uninstalled MSFS, on reinstall it locked up at exactly the same file. Grrr.

After much searching I found the following link:

https://flightsimulator.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/360016844080-Download-stuck-on-packages-Install-loop

Which actually worked. As my 22mb internet speed takes 10hrs+ to download 97Gb I went to bed expecting an overnight download and a working simulator this morning. No No No, of course it wasn't going to be that easy, Microsoft in its infinite wisdom decided a windows update was necessary at 3am and of course ended the update. Grr Grr Grr.

However, I followed the reinstall guide again this morning and so far it is at 14.61Gb, which is well past the previous install loop, so fingers crossed it may fully install.

Thanks for reading and hopefully it may help others (of which there seem to be many) with the same/similar problem.

Thanks.

Currently at 43.55Gb after 6hrs. I really hope this not going to be a regular occurrence.
