Anyway to turn wind off in the sim?

Featured Replies

Not sure if this is me, but since the last patch, I have been having huge problems on final approach with wind sheer just as I come down onto the runway.. am assuming it's the ground effect wind, but all of a sudden, I get blown all over the place at about 100 ft from the ground leaving no time to recover..  also noticing high moments of turbulence in the air even when the winds are calm.

Therefore, is there anyway to currently turn the wind off in the sim (without a mod or add-on) , whilst I await a resonse to my zendesk issue?

I have not experienced this as an all-the-time thing. Are you sure you're not just landing somewhere that actually has wind shear?

You can go into the weather settings and set them to visual only, which will, I think, turn off the winds.

Weather options set to live, then click on custom tab. Now in flight you can shift wx conditions for landings to clear skies if that makes your experience better. Apart from that not sure how else you can approach the situation without just directly copying metar info into a custom weather preset minus the winds.

Will try that thanks...   nope  did one earlier and the ground winds were listed as 2 knots direct head wind and still got it.. it's like my favorite aircraft suddenly become paper aeroplanes below 100 ft with no momentum or inertia...    am talking C172, Mooney and TBM currently...  and it's only been happening in the last couple of days..  no mods, just 5 airports in the community folder.     😞

Had one today where the aloft winds were showing as 5 knots head wind and there was a wind gust that knocked the autopilot out...  additionally, no matter how light the wind, in extarnal view, I can hear the wind blowing like a gale.
