Working Title CJ4 v0.5.0 RELEASED (with Simbrief FMS import)

Tried again today. As soon as it switches to the STAR, the AP takes me off somewhere.... likely direct to the airport it seems. I had to use the hdg bug to manually fly the STAR and the Approach.

Edit: Was able to re program(recycle the approach) while on the approach, and it captured. RNAV into Palm Springs is sooo broken, would fly you into terrain if you didn't take over

The Palm Springs RNAV approaches are RNP, and no MSFS aircraft is currently capable of flying an RNP procedure correctly. Many r/w aircraft autopilot / FMS are not RNP capable either. Some Citation IV aircraft are, but not all of them are equipped for it. RNP capability requires additional optional equipment above and beyond the base Proline21 package.

At the moment you should not try to fly any r/w procedure in MSFS marked RNAV(RNP) on the approach chart - they will not work.

In a r/w aircraft not certified for RNAV(RNP), such approaches would not even appear in the FMS as a selectable option. In such aircraft, the only approach available at KPSP would be the VOR/GPS B

We are excited to announce v0.5.0 of the Working Title CJ4, with some awesome new features including the ability to directly load a flight plan from Simbrief into the FMS.

Thanks for another amazing update.

Hmm, something isn't right with the install then. The IDX (INDEX) button is how you access about half the FMS functions. I'd definitely clear out any CJ4 mods from your community folder and drop 0.5.1 in there again. If it still doesn't work, I'd consider any suspect mods like livery packages.

Hi,

did I miss something about the NAV-frequencies? No matter which ILS or VOR frequency I try to enter, I always get "Invalid Entry". For example, I tried 109.100 - 109100 09100 (as explained in the great  how to fly the CJ4 video). Any ideas?

Thanks!

Interesting, The 'IDX' button doesn't bring up any additional page on the FMS.  I have an 'Int/Index' page that comes up when the FMS loads up but that doesn't appear to be the right page.

This is crazy, I loaded up version v0.4.0 (the last version of 4 before 5 came out) and the 'IDX' button works.  It's only with 0.5.1 I have a problem.

Indeed this is very odd because the code for the FMS buttons hasn't changed since maybe 0.2.0, so there's nothing different about the FMS buttons between and 0.4 and 0.5 version. Just to confirm, did you make sure there were no remnants of the CJ4 on your Community folder?

Here's what I'd try/look for in your shoes...

1) Were any modifications made to the core Asobo CJ4 files in your official folder? If so, restore the Asobo CJ4 to default with current patch.

2) Temporarily create a folder in your Community folder called 'Disabled' and drag EVERYTHING in that folder.

3) Download a fresh copy of 0.5.1 https://github.com/Working-Title-MSFS-Mods/fspackages/releases/download/cj4-v0.5.1/workingtitle-cj4-v0.5.1.zip and place the contained folder into your Community folder, so only two folders should exist - the CJ4 and Disabled.

Then launch the sim and see what you get.

Must be frustrating! BTW you might want to hop on our discord (https://discord.gg/Fa6w2xK), many more people there can maybe assist... but in 20k downloads, this is a first - haven't seen or heard this issue before. There are plenty of bugs to be sure, but this hasn't been one of them...

Just to be sure we're talking the same thing... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9tWPDXYxeV8

At 30 seconds in to this video, is where I hit IDX and the INDEX menu comes up.

I want Asobo/MS to partner with Simbrief so that any aircraft can load its flight plan from the Simbrief website.

I wonder if all you simbrief guys has navigraph subscription. Because if not whats the point in creating flight plans using cycle 1903?

I feel using Simbrief to load a flight plan is a quick "cheat" to save time for the Sim pilot.  For those striving for realism, why not take the dispatch from the generated OFP and punch  the flight plan into the FMS same as a RW pilot is required to do ?

This is simply an area where a sim pilot can choose full realism versus saving a few steps during pre flight checks. To each his own 😉

This did the trick! I re-downloaded the file from this link and now everything works!.  Thanks for your help and the update is amazing.  This makes me wonder how great the Longitude could be if Asobo opened it up to 3rd party.  Not sure what you could do with adjusting the Garmin as far as the speeds are off (cruise and flaps) but everything else would be spot on.

One more question,

When the aircraft is cold/dark there's no flashlight anymore to help with lighting in the dark cockpit at night.  Did that get disabled or am I having another issue on my end?
