Monument Valley mod for Microsoft Flight Simulator MSFS 2020

Recommended Posts

Yet another mod to be found at the usual place: https://flightsim.to/file/1836/monument-valley-arizona-utah-border-work-in-progress

I would suspect Orbx might bring us a paid version of this one day.....

Utterly spectacular...   Would love to see someone do the Virgin River Canyon and is it I-15 near the Nevada-Arizona-Utah borders just south of St George.

Monument Valley has been show-cased in so many western movies you could be forgiven if you didn't know it is in the middle of absolutely nowhere, nothing is even close to it and to visit in real life is to go completely out of your way and yet the effort is so worthwhile.  The buttes included in this scenery are wonderfully done and highlight how inadequate default elevation maps can be for objects so detailed in nature.

PS Not to completely discount the Navajo Nation Reservation which is where the Valley is, but, dang - its out there.

When I installed this FS2020 took allot longer to load up than before.  I removed it from my community folder.  There's three sceneries, Bryce Canyon, Monument Valley, and Arches.  All look outstanding but can't have it affecting the core sim.

Agree. I am in the habit now of positioning scenery adds only when planning them into my flight.  Do much the same with Megascenery and Orbx in FSX.  A bit easier there with the scenery manager add on.  in MFS I just store the scenery folders elsewhere and move them in only when needed.

I once was fortunate enough to go horseriding around the buttes at sunset with a Navajo guide. I then watched the sunrise from the hotel overlooking the valley the next morning. It was magical. Been back again since. I strongly recommend visiting in real life as well as virtually if you ever get the chance.

If you go there though, stop at Mexican Hat first. The road leading from there to Monument Valley is spectacular as is Valley of the Gods.

Does anyone else have the game and mods on an ssd? I'm not sure I'm seeing the same loading issues.

Slightly off topic, but does anyone know if there is a similar mod with improved mesh for the Grand Canyon?

Thanks for the info, this mod looks great.

In addition, I would like to know how you did this video?
I guess you used the drone camera for this, but I wonder how you could fly the plane with this camera active. When I switch to drone camera, I can't fly the aircraft anymore, I mean the controls don't move if I move the stick...

Did I miss something?

Hey HiFlyer 🙂 thanks of the heads up. By the way, is that your video?

Nope, I'm assuming its from the mod creator.

If I was doing it, I would probably be in external camera mode while panning and zooming with the mouse or keyboard.

When in drone camera you can control the plane by pressing the ‘c’ key on your keyboard. Doing this you loss the drone control until you press the same key again.
