P3D 5.1 Released

Don’t worry because its not true that no any other weather works with v5.1 just try P3DWX that is free, comes with historic weather, metar interpolation, sim weather, and current weather. Also Rex Sky Force works like a charm with EA too and FGRW has been updated. I unboxed the v5.1 and where live streaming along 7 hours with EA at ultra, PMDG, QW787, MJC8Q400, and Milviz KA350i with amazing clouds, 4k textures and 4xssa, terrain shadows, building and vegetation shadows, and speed trees on. The white artifact and the PBR metal are just about setting dynamic reflection on under certain conditions. I have found that Dynamics Reflections needs a P3D restart to work. By the way DR was the cause off rain in the cabin in P3D v5, if you deactivate in HF2 you get the rain and fog in cockpit fixed, and the blueish PBR metal too.
And about no rain particles, as I saw in some posts, are not true too. 😉

i do not pretend you all watch my 7 hour live streaming, but take a fast look if one of you guys want to taste the true facts. V5.1 works like a charm compared to previous version, and HDR autoexposure and night lighting crisp are supperb.

V4 started with issues and has been one of the best P3d versions (4.5) IMHO

cheers

Very good vid 👍

Attention!

The latest available version of EZdok camera - EZCA 3.1.0.38 results in CTD when used with P3D v5.1.

Today we are performing internal tests of a new build compatible with P3D5.1.

The Release will most likely be tomorrow.

Will de-install 5.1 tomorrow after sleeping a night over it and revert back to 5.0 HF2 because latest after 15min there is a "silent" CTD caused by ucrtbase.dll. This has also been reported by others.

Besides - I am not too much impressed by the performance so far (clouds still flickering, no improvement on graphic RAM, no Active Sky yet because of a P3D bug, etc)

disable SODE and try again - some users were able to narrow it down to SODE in combination with AI Jetway docking

Has anyone tried installing the latest Win 10 SDK to see if that fixes their ucrtbase errors?  It seems possible that there may be some version disparities related to the compilers and associated libraries used to produce the sim and the various C/C++ coded add-ons (e.g. SODE).  That has helped others using other sorts of software...the recommendations I've seen are to first try installing the latest Win 10 SDK, and if that doesn't work, try installing the latest MS Visual Studio on the computer.

Negative things about EA :

- orange / gold haze around you at dawn/dusk

- bottom of the clouds are completely black when climbing into the clouds

- black objects can be seen through the clouds when flying above them

- black objects on the ground

- too much haze when standing on the ground and especially with a zoom of 0.60 ( or 0.30 with 2 monitors in NVsurround)

- grid ( can be reduced with modifying settings but it is not gone )

- plane textures become darker over time

Postive things about EA :

- very good performance ; even with textures at max

- looks great when flying above the clouds at any time

V5.1 has even better performance than V5.0 HF2.

What about not using EA?

are we able to enable all shadows cast/receive options

vegetation

particles

terrain

buildings.

all without a performance drop.

ide love to have them all enabled as it eliminates the shimmering and jaggies on my 50 inch 4k

but Some shadows also look horrible enabled.

has it been fixed with 5.1?

thanks

mike

Yes absolutely with EA enabled and I was able to turn on all shadow options without much on an FPS hit (and this was on my old 2016/2017 dev PC).  I haven't tested increasing shadow quality via these tweaks yet:

OPAQUE_SHADOW_TEXTURE_SIZE=4096 (or if  you have lots of VRAM 8192)
TRANSLUCENT_SHADOW_TEXTURE_SIZE=2048
OPAQUE_SHADOW_DRAW_DISTANCE=8000
TRANSLUCENT_SHADOW_DRAW_DISTANCE=8000

Cheers, Rob.

The first 2 I always had at 50% of their default value. So 1024/512...

That was my secret so I could use terrain and cloud shadows draw distance at high 🤓

Don’t tell anyone ....

Hi ,

I have updated my P3D V5.1 from P3D V5.0 HF2.

I had followed the instruction and uninstalled the Client, Content and Scenery for P3D V5.0 HF2, followed up install the new lient, Content and Scenery for P3D V5.1.

After installation and launched P3D, I cannot see my PMDG 747, or PMDG 737, QW787  addons.

Can someone please advised if I need to re-install these addons?

Cheers,

Chris.

I understand that PMDG installs its products directly into the P3D directory.
So yes, in principle it is necessary to reinstall.

Richard.
